The Manager Competition Services & Seasonal Program is responsible for the leadership, planning, execution, and growth of Competition Services & Seasonal Programs (Busters) at Stowe Mountain Resort. This role is accountable for financial performance, guest experience, and employee engagement within these program areas. Through a strong focus on operational excellence, strategic program development, and cross-department collaboration, this role ensures the successful delivery of race events, training environments, and seasonal programming. The Manager will drive innovation, increase participation and revenue, and maintain strong partnerships with internal departments and external stakeholders. This position plays a critical leadership role within the Ski and Ride School management team, balancing hands-on daily operations with long-term program development to enhance the overall guest and employee experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all Competition Services & Seasonal Programs operations, ensuring alignment with Ski and Ride School and Resort strategic goals
  • Own financial performance, including revenue generation, labor management, and expense control for all assigned programs.
  • Hire, train, develop, and supervise Assistant Manager, program leads, and staff; foster a high-performance and engaged team culture
  • Oversee planning and execution of all competition-related activities, including Masters Racing, corporate races, race training environments, and external event hosting (MMSC, GMA, USASA, ISFA, etc.)
  • Develop and grow revenue streams through programming innovation, hill space sales, and enhanced event offerings
  • Coordinate with Mountain Operations (Grooming, Snowmaking, Patrol) to ensure high-quality, safe, and consistent race and training environments
  • Maintain and manage all race infrastructure, including preseason and in-season inspection, repair, and set up of netting, gates, and training equipment
  • Partner with Field Marketing and other departments to support event visibility, guest engagement, and brand alignment
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with competition clubs, partners, and external organizations
  • Ensure high standards of guest service, program quality, and safety; resolve escalated guest concerns when needed
  • Collaborate with Ski and Ride School leadership to support broader operations, including peak periods and holiday program coverage
  • Lead daily on-hill operational support, including training space setup and safety management for Ski and Ride School programs
  • Contribute to strategic planning, program innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support preseason preparation, staff training, and operational readiness for the Ski and Ride School
  • Provide structured offseason transition planning to ensure continuity of critical work during non-operational months
  • Model and uphold company values, safety standards, and leadership expectations

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Ski & Ride School or related resort operations
  • Demonstrated experience in competition services, race programming, or seasonal program management
  • Minimum 2+ years of leadership experience supervising staff in an operational environment
  • Experience leading supervisors or team leads strongly preferreda
  • Current PSIA/AASI Level II required; Level III preferred
  • USSA or other competition-related certifications preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and RPOS
  • Fluent communicating in both written and verbal English

  • Advanced knowledge of ski racing, freestyle, and competition environments
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable and inclement conditions
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and peak periods

Preferred Skills:

  • College degree in a related field
  • Previous experience at the Manager level within a Ski & Snowboard School
  • Experience managing race events, hill space logistics, and competition partnerships
  • Experience working with youth programs and seasonal program structures

The expected pay range is $51,299.00 - $73,285.00. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
