Simberi Gold Company Limited forms part of the St Barbara Group. Our Simberi Operations consists of an open cut mine on the northernmost island in the Tabar group of islands in the province of New Ireland in Papua New Guinea. We are currently seeking a Manager Commercial to join our team. This is a three-year maximum term full time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 FIFO Roster from any Australian capital city.
Reporting to the Executive General Manager Simberi you will be responsible for leading, directing and overseeing the Simberi Procurement and Supply strategy in alignment to the Simberi Operation Strategy and providing quality decision making, support, analysis and governance that builds value.
The opportunity
- Leading commercial negotiations, contract management and pricing reviews. Identify new business opportunities and expand existing customer accounts.
- Managing procurement and supply functions for the site to maximise effectiveness and efficiency in attaining Simberi’s strategic goals.
- Ensuring adherence to the Procurement and Supply Governance and internal control framework policies, standards and procedures.
- Ensuring timely, accurate and standardised procurement and supply performance reporting that drives achievement of business objectives.
- Providing comprehensive supply and local procurement updates to senior management by evaluating, analysing, and reporting appropriate operational data, engaging in developing and supporting short and long-term operational strategies.
- Leading the local procurement process and achieve optimum value and cost savings to the Company.
- Ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of all activities relating to freight and logistics, including security of all stored property.
- Ensuring effective and efficient purchasing and supply processes that maximise value, minimise downtime and ensure good governance.
- Supporting the capital project requirements ensuring early stakeholder engagement and involvement in the capital process.
- Measuring and managing key contract performance ensuring consistency with expectations while mitigating risk of underperformance for Simberi.
- Leading the team to provide commercial business partnering to operations including support on resolution of contract non-performance.
- Ensuring efficient use of working capital by minimising stock holdings without risking delivering operational plans and business continuity.
- Providing business partnering to the Simberi Operations through high-quality commercial support, analysis, insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Supporting finance in the delivering of timely and insightful value accretive analysis on costs and opportunities for value creation.
- Driving simplicity and standardisation of supply and procurement processes and reporting.

- Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business.
