Job Description

STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT AND DIGITAL HEALTH INITIATIVES

  • Support the Director and the Centre in developing and implementing the Centre’s strategic direction in digital health, artificial intelligence in healthcare, and health data innovation.
  • Coordinate and support the development of digital health initiatives and innovation programmes aligned with the strategic priorities of KPJ Healthcare University and the KPJ Healthcare Group.
  • Identify emerging digital health technologies, healthcare innovation opportunities, and strategic partnerships that contribute to healthcare transformation and improved service delivery.
  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of pilot projects, innovation initiatives, and collaborative programmes involving the University and KPJ Group hospitals.
  • Support efforts to secure research grants, innovation funding, and strategic collaborations with industry partners and research institutions.

RESEARCH, INNOVATION AND INDUSTRY COLLABORATION

  • Coordinate research and innovation initiatives undertaken by the Centre for Digital Health.
  • Facilitate collaboration between academic staff, researchers, clinicians, and technology partners in developing digital health solutions and research projects.
  • Support the development of digital health applications, including artificial intelligence solutions, health data analytics, and technology-enabled healthcare systems.
  • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange through seminars, workshops, conferences, and professional engagement activities.
  • Encourage partnerships with healthcare institutions, industry partners, and research organisations to enhance research impact and innovation outcomes.

CENTRE OPERATIONS AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Centre for Digital Health to ensure effective management of programmes, projects, and resources.
  • Coordinate and monitor digital health projects, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and timely achievement of project milestones.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting related to Centre activities, projects, and collaborations.
  • Prepare operational reports, project updates, and performance summaries for management and stakeholders.
  • Support financial planning, budget monitoring, and resource management related to Centre initiatives.

DIGITAL HEALTH GOVERNANCE AND REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

1. Ensure that digital health initiatives and projects comply with applicable Malaysian laws and regulatory requirements, including:

  • Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) 2010
  • Relevant Ministry of Health Malaysia digital health and data governance guidelines
  • Medical Device Authority (MDA) requirements where applicable
  • Institutional research ethics and governance policies

2. Promote responsible management and governance of health data, including data privacy, information security, and ethical use of digital health technologies.

3. Support compliance with institutional policies relating to research governance, innovation management, and regulatory requirements.

STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT AND PARTNERSHIPS

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with KPJ Group hospitals to support digital transformation initiatives and healthcare innovation programmes.
  • Engage with technology companies, healthcare providers, research institutions, and industry partners to support collaborative projects and partnerships.
  • Represent the Centre for Digital Health in meetings, forums, and collaborative engagements as required by the Director.
  • Support the development of strategic partnerships at national and international levels related to digital health and healthcare innovation.

OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY, HEALTH AND QUALITY MANAGEMENT

  • Comply with all Company policies, including Health and Safety policies.
  • Take reasonable care for personal safety and health, as well as for others who may be affected by actions or omissions at work.
  • Cooperate with KPJU Management in fulfilling obligations under the Occupational Safety and Health Act and related regulations.
  • Comply with all instructions and measures relating to occupational safety and health requirements.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Centre’s Quality Management System (QMS).

Job Requirement:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Digital Health, Health Informatics, Artificial Intelligence, Information Systems, Health Sciences, or a related discipline.

Knowledge and Experiences:

  • A minimum of THREE (3) to FIVE (5) years of relevant experience in digital health, healthcare innovation, health informatics, research coordination, project management, or related fields. Experience in managing projects, programmes, or collaborative initiatives within healthcare, research, or academic environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with digital health technologies, healthcare information systems, artificial intelligence applications, or health data analytics will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in coordinating collaborations involving academic institutions, healthcare providers, and industry partners.
  • A good understanding of Malaysian healthcare governance frameworks, data protection requirements, and institutional compliance standards is desirable. However, candidates with less experience may be considered at the discretion of the Director, provided they demonstrate strong potential, relevant competencies, and the ability to contribute effectively to the Centre’s initiatives.

Technical skills required

  • Project Management Skills: Ability to coordinate and manage multiple digital health initiatives, research projects, and collaborative programmes.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to analyse information, interpret findings, and support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Digital Health and Technology Literacy: Understanding of digital health systems, healthcare technologies, and emerging innovations including artificial intelligence applications and health data management.
  • Data Analytics and Visualisation: Familiarity with data analysis and visualisation tools to support research, project monitoring, and reporting, including platforms such as Power BI or similar analytics tools.
  • Digital and Presentation Skills: Proficiency in preparing professional reports and presentation materials using tools such as Microsoft PowerPoint, with the ability to communicate complex information effectively to diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong organisational and coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including clinicians, researchers, technologists, and industry partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant digital platforms.
  • Ability to adopt and utilise emerging digital technologies and tools to support digital health initiatives, research activities, and innovation programmes undertaken by the Centre.
