Job Description

The Manager, Central Pharmacy Fulfillment is responsible for managing and performing all pharmacy operations in accordance with accredited policies and procedures, ethical and professional practices, Board of Pharmacy, and state and federal requirements in a large volume centralized specialty and mail order pharmacy. The Manager, Central Pharmacy Fulfillment oversees prescription fulfillment, playing a key role in pharmacy operations which requires the application of teamwork, leadership, and flexibility. The Manager, Central Pharmacy Fulfillment provides operational supervision of the central pharmacy workflow from data entry, clinical review, dispense, verification, packaging, and delivery. The Manager, Central Pharmacy Fulfillment organizes, supervises, directs, and verifies functions performed by central fulfillment pharmacists, patient engagement pharmacists, and patient engagement technicians. This position is responsible for the monitoring of key performance indicators, taking corrective actions that drive continuous improvement, and works closely with the Director, Central Pharmacy to execute business plan initiatives in line with capital and operating budgets.

Baptist Health is looking for a Manager, Central Pharmacy Fulfillment to join our team at our Central Pharmacy in LaGrange, KY!

  • Responsible for oversight of central pharmacist fulfillment functions including data entry and clinical/DUR review for home delivery and meds to beds renewal center and prescription fulfillment, verification, and shipping.
  • Directs the orientation, training, and continuing education of all central pharmacy fulfillment staff.
  • Leads pharmacist and technician supervisor onboarding, ongoing development and trainings, and annual competency assessments.
  • Maintains expert level proficiency with pharmacy dispensing software and vendor systems.
  • Maintains proficiency with 340B program requirements.
  • Oversees the efficient workflow of the central pharmacy fulfillment line and call center, leading the pharmacy team to optimize processes, inventory management, financial performance, patient safety and experience.
  • Leads central pharmacy dispensing team to coordinate services and prescription fulfillment in collaboration with specialty pharmacy and local community pharmacy leadership.
  • Serves as an expert and role model in prescription processing workflow.
  • Develops and maintains expertise in operating automation and software systems used in prescription fulfillment and inventory management.
  • Maintains appropriate licensure for the pharmacy (e.g. DEA registration, state pharmacy license, non-resident permits if applicable).
  • Oversees department revenue cycle management, accountable for pharmacy budgets, and ensuring timely completion of all claim and invoice reconciliation.
  • Ensures compliance with Baptist Health policies, 340B program, accrediting bodies, FDA and manufacturer requirements or restrictions, third party payers (including audits), and state and federal regulations.
  • Maintains record retention in accordance with Baptist Health policies and state and federal regulations.
  • Ensures adequate access, security, and documentation of controlled substance ordering, receiving, inventory management, dispensing, and returns in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Ensures integrity of medications by assuring storage under proper conditions (e.g. refrigeration) and security.
  • Monitors drug shortages and implements solutions to avoid therapy delays.
  • Oversees shipping packaging workflows to certify compliance with policies and procedures, protect product integrity, preserve cold chain during distribution to patients, and mitigate risk of packages being shipped incorrectly.
  • Completes pharmacy enrollments and maintains ongoing compliance (e.g. NPI, Medicare, Medicaid, third party insurers).

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy required.
  • Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • Current Kentucky and Indiana Pharmacist license or eligible.
  • Additional pharmacist licensure in non-resident states may be required within 6 months of hire.
  • 1 year of job-related experience required.
  • Previous call center pharmacy work experience preferred.
  • Previous management experience preferred.
