Cash Application Manager

Scope of the Role

The Cash Application Manager oversees the cash application function within the O2C process for CooperCompanies’ North America entities in a Global Business Services (GBS) environment. This role ensures accurate and timely application of customer payments, reconciliation of accounts, and resolution of unapplied cash, while maintaining compliance with company policies and SOX requirements. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Accounts Receivable, the Cash Application Manager leads a team focused on operational excellence and process automation.

The Cash Application Manager is responsible for managing daily cash application activities, ensuring payments are posted accurately across multiple ERP systems, and resolving discrepancies promptly. This position supports month-end close, assists with audits, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and scalability.

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, coach, and develop cash application team members. Set performance goals, monitor progress, and foster a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Cash Posting & Reconciliation: Oversee accurate applications of payments; resolve unapplied cash and discrepancies.
  • Month-End Close: Support reconciliations and reporting for cash application activities.
  • KPIs: Monitor cash application accuracy and timeliness; provide insights to Senior Manager.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Ensure adherence to SOX controls and company policies. Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, enhance automation, and improve efficiency within Cash Application processes, leveraging GBS best practices.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Prepare cash application-related reports, assist with month-end close activities, and provide insights to support decision-making.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Manager.

Key Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data processing.
  • Advanced analytical skills for reconciliation and variance resolution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced Global Business Services environment.
  • Problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business-related field (required).
  • Minimum 5-7 years of AR/cash application experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics preferred).
  • Strong understanding of O2C processes and best practices

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $78,586.00 and $112,266.00 per year and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
