PURPOSE

The Manager of Capital Projects is a strategic leader of a dynamic team in the successful execution of assigned capital project portfolio. This role is responsible for driving high-performing teams, mentoring project managers and direct reports, and ensuring all deliverables meet stringent standards for quality, cost, and schedule. The manager proactively identifies risks and opportunities, implements robust project controls, and collaborates with finance and project controls specialists to manage budgets, change control, and contingency planning. By continuously improving processes and encouraging innovation, the manager develops a resilient, adaptable team culture that prioritizes safety and compliance with internal and regulatory requirements. The manager works with cross functional teams to ensure effective handoffs, process alignment, and robust project controls. Through this and other effective stakeholder engagement and clear communication, the manager ensures that all activities, vendor relationships, and project objectives are aligned and optimized, delivering superior results and advancing the company’s strategic goals.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

· Lead capital projects, ensuring alignment with company goals and strategic objectives.

· Manage project scope, budget, schedule, and risk, using effective project controls and documentation.

· Oversee project teams, providing guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.

· Ensure compliance with all company policies, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

· Negotiate contracts and oversee procurement and vendor selection processes.

· Monitor contractor and vendor performance, ensuring quality and adherence to expectations.

· Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within project teams.

· Communicate project plans, progress, and results clearly to all stakeholders, including senior leadership.

· Support team development through mentoring and knowledge sharing.

· Use project management tools and technology to organize, track, and report project progress.

· Coordinate project handoffs and process alignment across departments for seamless execution.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or additional relevant field experience.

Minimum experience required:

7 years of related experience in formal project management, Capital Project Management preferred, or 10 years of relevant work experience instead of a degree.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:

· Experience leading capital projects, including managing scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality.

· Ability to ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.

· Skill in building and maintaining relationships with vendors, contractors, and internal teams.

· Capacity to encourage innovation and continuous improvement within project teams.

· Proven leadership and mentoring abilities to support team development and performance.

· Clear and effective communication skills for sharing plans, updates, and expectations.

· Proficiency with computers and project management tools for organizing and tracking project progress.

Any certificates, licenses, etc.:

· Preferred: PMP (Project Management Professional certification)

· Preferred: Advanced Degree
