Position Purpose:

The is responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, enhancement, and continuous operation of industrial control system infrastructure supporting facility operations. This role provides technical leadership for SCADA systems, PLCs, HMI platforms, telemetry, communications networks, servers, databases, cybersecurity, and associated enterprise applications.

The position ensures reliable operation of operational technology systems while supporting regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, business process automation, and cybersecurity resilience. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in industrial automation and IT/OT infrastructure with leadership, project management, and systems analysis capabilities.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

Systems Administration & Maintenance

  • Manage, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize SCADA systems and associated OT infrastructure.
  • Support installation, troubleshooting, configuration, modification, and lifecycle maintenance of:
    • PLCs
    • Allen-Bradley ControlLogix controllers
    • HMI systems
    • Remote Control Units (RCUs)
    • Telemetry Systems
    • Communications Hardware/Software
    • Industrial Networking Components
  • Perform firmware and software upgrades, patch management, and system performance tuning.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and communications failures impacting operations.
  • Maintain backup, redundancy, disaster recovery, and contingency systems to support continuous operations.

Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls for OT environments in accordance with NIST cybersecurity framework principles.
  • Monitor for, respond to, document, and assist in remediation of IT/OT security incidents.
  • Administer role based access controls, user provisioning, permissions, and authentication controls.
  • Support system hardening, vulnerability management, patching, and security documentation.
  • Ensure OT infrastructure aligns with organizational cybersecurity policies and regulatory requirements.

Server, Network, and Infrastructure Management

  • Administer Windows Server and Windows workstation environments supporting industrial systems.
  • Manage Active Directory users, groups, access permissions, and domain-related services.
  • Configure and maintain:
    • Virtual Servers
    • Network-Connected PCs
    • Industrial Switches
    • Communications Infrastructure
    • Client/server Applications
    • Database Environments
  • Monitor server health, storage utilization, system resources, and network performance.
  • Oversee installation and deployment of new servers, operating systems, and application software.

Systems Analysis & Application Support

  • Review and analyze operational business workflows and software systems to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Gather business and technical requirements from operational stakeholders.
  • Design, prototype, test, and implement software enhancements and systems integrations.
  • Develop technical solutions supporting:
    • Regulatory Reporting
    • Inventory Management
    • Waste Tracking
    • Scheduling Systems
    • Field Operational Systems
    • Compliance Applications
    • Customer Tracking Platforms
  • Evaluate technology solutions for operational efficiency and long-term business needs.

Project Management & Leadership

  • Lead implementation projects involving OT/IT infrastructure upgrades, SCADA improvements, and application deployments.
  • Coordinate testing, commissioning, rollout, and post-deployment support for new systems.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, risk mitigation strategies, and implementation documentation.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to technical staff, vendors, and contractors.
  • Conduct technical presentations, training sessions, and knowledge transfer activities.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain accurate operational documentation, network diagrams, system configurations, SOPs, and recovery procedures.
  • Develop technical specifications, logic flow diagrams, and system architecture documentation.
  • Research emerging technologies and recommend improvements for system modernization and resiliency.
  • Support audit readiness and regulatory inspections related to system controls and cybersecurity.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support enterprise applications as assigned.
  • Provide after-hours support for critical operational incidents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • High School Diploma or GED and relevant experience.
  • Preferred: Bachelors Degree in relevant education and experience.
  • Minimum five years of experience supporting and managing SCADA, industrial automation, or OT systems in a critical infrastructure or industrial environment.
  • Experience supporting mission critical operational systems.
  • Experience leading technical teams or projects.
  • Experience with formal project management methodologies preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in water/wastewater, hazardous waste, utilities, manufacturing, or other industrial operations.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience with Ignition SCADA software.
  • Experience with Exchange administration or enterprise messaging platforms.
  • Familiarity with legacy enterprise applications.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

Preferred, but not required:

  • Industry cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, GICSP, Security+).
  • Project management certification (PMP or equivalent).

Additional Information

Pay Range: $165000 to $185000 Per Year.
