What is a Manager – Business Strategy?

The Manager - Business Strategy supports the Chief Transformation Officer in keeping Central Hudson’s business strategy aligned with how the organization operates today and how it needs to operate in the future. This role helps translate CEO and executive priorities into practical business direction, supports the design of future-state business capabilities, and works across functions to ensure strategy, operations, governance, technology, process, and performance expectations remain connected. The position serves as a strategic partner to the Chief Transformation Officer, with connectivity to the CEO and senior leadership team, and plays a key role in shaping how the organization thinks, prioritizes, operates, and evolves over time.

What does a Manager – Business Strategy do?

  • Supports the Chief Transformation Officer in maintaining and advancing Central Hudson’s business strategy, ensuring it remains current, actionable, and aligned to CEO and executive leadership priorities

  • Partners with leaders across the organization to identify where strategy, operating model, organizational capabilities, processes, technology, governance, and performance expectations need to evolve

  • Helps shape large, cross-functional business priorities where the problem, future-state approach, ownership model, or operating implications are not yet fully defined

  • Develops strategic insights, recommendations, executive materials, and leadership narratives that clarify where the business is going, what choices need to be made, and what needs to change to get there

  • Supports the design of future-state operating approaches, including decision rights, governance routines, accountability, work flows, data needs, organizational capabilities, and management systems

  • Creates tools, frameworks, and communication materials that help deploy business strategy across the organization and translate executive direction into functional priorities and action

  • Collaborates with the CEO, Chief Transformation Officer, and executive leadership to help organize and articulate Central Hudson’s business strategy so key priorities, messages, and external narrative are clear, consistent, and timely

  • Conducts internal analysis, external research, benchmarking, and stakeholder engagement to inform business priorities, organizational alignment, and future business needs

  • Provides support for storm restoration efforts

What does it take to be a Manager – Business Strategy?

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Strategy, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Technology, Organizational Leadership, or a related field and 5+ years of professional experience in business strategy, management consulting, business operations, digital strategy, brand strategy, organizational effectiveness, and/or a related field

  • Demonstrated ability to work through ambiguous business challenges and develop structured, practical recommendations

  • Experience supporting business-level initiatives, operating model improvements, strategic planning, cross-functional change efforts, or organizational alignment

  • Strong executive communication skills, including the ability to develop clear presentations, strategic narratives, leadership materials, and decision support

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and translate it into strategic insight

  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Strategy, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Technology, Organizational Leadership, or a related field

  • Experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, business strategy, technology, telecom, energy, utility, infrastructure, or another complex operating environment

  • Experience supporting digital strategy, AI strategy, customer strategy, operating model design, organizational effectiveness, or enterprise change

  • Experience preparing materials for senior executives, executive committees, or board-level audiences

  • Familiarity with analytics, visualization, and presentation tools used to support strategic analysis and executive communication
