About the teamAbout the role:

The Cancer Information and Support Services (CISS) Division aims to empower and support people affected by cancer, so that no-one need face cancer alone. This Division assists people as they navigate the cancer journey, easing their emotional and practical burdens and helping them make informed decisions

The key purpose of the Manager Business Planning, Operations and Performance, a key member of the Divisional Leadership Team, is to work with the Director, CISS, and the Division Leadership Team to ensure the informational, practical, legal, and financial and psychosocial needs of clients are met through the delivery of high quality, efficient information, and support services. The Manager Business Planning, Operations and Performance assists the Director, Cancer Information and Support Services in developing and executing strategic initiatives for CISS and CCNSW and works closely with the CISS DLT and strategy team on ongoing monitoring and review. The role will work closely with the Director to ensure all functions of the CISS Division are operating at optimal levels and comply with Cancer Council policies and procedures.

Please note this is a full time 12 month position.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Support the Director and the CISS DLT in the execution of the Division’s strategic initiatives, including the development of long-term goals and objectives, including targets for measuring outcomes and impact.
  • Oversee collection and interpretation of performance data, business metrics and evaluation insights to drive client-centric service delivery across CISS.
  • Lead the coordination and drive processes around the development and monitoring of the CISS Division annual work plan and reporting, working with all teams across the Division to ensure alignment to the CCNSW strategic plan.
  • Lead in the design, development and execution of key strategic projects that lead to business performance improvement, including key technology projects.
  • Build and maintain close and positive working relationships with the different business areas across the organisation and utilise outputs from those areas to increase effectiveness, efficiency, and a client-centric approach within the Division.
  • Assist with the preparation of Board papers and other management reporting dealing with strategy and operational performance that have implications across CISS teams.
  • Monitor the divisional budgets and lead the divisional managers to holistically manage forecasts and deliver financial transparency to the organisation.
  • Oversee, drive, and assist with preparing grant and research funding applications to improve access to or enhance CCNSW information and support.

About you:

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in business/health/community/management services.
  • Knowledge and extensive work experience in the health system and/or previous experience working on areas that support people affected by cancer, carers, family, and friends.
  • Demonstrated strong business and operations acumen with a deep understanding of business drivers and adopting an enterprise -wide perspective when developing strategies.
  • Substantial demonstrated experience in developing and implementing initiatives that achieve specific objectives, particularly in the context of effective client centred care, improving operational efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation.
  • Experience as a collaborative manager/leader within the not-for-profit and or corporate sector.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership qualities with excellent people and performance management skills and the desire to work within a culture where employees and volunteers are respected, motivated, enabled and held accountable to deliver on organisational goals, and an understanding of working with a varied skill level workforce including volunteers.
  • High level technology knowledge and skills with the ability to lead key organisational technology projects and represent division at an executive level where required.

Desirable:

  • Experience building the public profile of a community organisation and its services.
  • Knowledge of the complexity of the not-for-profit sector and the drivers of organisational success.
