As part of the US Business Development (BD) team, this role supports day-to-day needs of team members in the Commercial and Energy Disputes practice group in the execution of strategic go-to-market initiatives that generate new client relationships, enhance brand profile and drive revenue opportunities.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual who shows ambition,determination,and the desire to further develop a career in business development. We are looking for a candidate who has experience in quickly building rapport with key stakeholders, developing subject-matter knowledge, and working closely with peers and senior marketing staff to provide strategic and tactical support of business development initiatives.

This position reports totheDirector for Disputes and Litigationandwill be supported by a Business Development Coordinator. This role can be based in our Austin, Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio offices and operates on a hybrid schedule. Some overtime and work outside of regular business hours may berequired

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with practice leadership to manage the planning and production of client-targeted initiatives to raise and maintain awareness of ourCommercial and Energy disputespractice and sector strengths in line with strategic growth objectives, such as bids/RFPs, client development presentations, external publications, annual client value reports or relationship statement documents, ensuring adherence to brand and style guidelines

  • Identifyand propose pursuit opportunities based on plan priorities, marketawarenessand commercial potential; implement initiatives for generating new client relationships, enhancing brandprofileand driving revenue opportunities; lead follow-up efforts

  • Analyze and develop engagement opportunities with target clients specific to assigned practice, as well as global and regional client teams served by the practice; working with others tofinalizeand deliver

  • Coordinate with partners on the development and publicizing of outcomes and thought leadership, in cooperation with the PR team where necessary

  • Manage the production process for developing team newsletters, blogs, clientalertsand other external communicationsin a timely manner

  • Mentor and coach team members on best practices based on core competencies

  • Ensure that all marketing communications channels areutilizedto convey consistent messages about theCommercial and Energy disputesteam and the industry sector(s), including social media;identifyand recommend opportunities based on topic(s)

  • Track and analyze client engagement activities forthe Commercial and Energy disputesteam in the Firm’s experience management and CRM systems, including producing periodic budget and ROI analyses on same;identifyand recommend opportunities based on report data

  • Work with the in-house events team to plan, implement and report on industry conference sponsorships, client presentations and seminars, section/department retreats, client dinners, and other events related to the promotion of the Disputes Group practices

  • Draft and coordinate submissions in legal directories (such as Chambers and Legal 500) and practice/industry surveys; work with lead lawyers tofinalizeand prep for interviews

  • Manage the production of internal presentations for relevant training/development programs;identifyand recommend topics for future programs

  • Develop internal communications for promoting monthly engagement activities ofCommercialand Energy disputes practice; prepare talking points for highlighting same Oversee contact information for marketing mailings and lists in the Firms’ CRM system

  • Update intranet content in the US and, where relevant, at a global level to raise awareness of BD initiatives and opportunities

  • Monitorand approve check requests, invoices, and other arrangementsrequiredfor support of marketing activities as needed

  • Coordinate resources and materials for internal team meetings as needed

  • Assistteam members in the lateral integration/onboarding process as needed

Qualifications and job-related skills

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of five years' experiencein a law firmbusiness development/marketing role

  • In lieu of bachelor’s degree, nine years of experience in a law firm business development/marketing role

  • Demonstratedexperience with business development strategy in a global professional services organization;possessessolid business acumen and experience in analyzing business and legal trends and developing programs, as well as the ability to synthesize complex information

  • Experiencedelivering cross-border business development and marketing campaigns using the full marketing mix, collaborating with international business development staff as needed.

  • Demonstrated success in leading marketing and business development initiatives; experience with subject-matter forCommercial and Energy disputes practicea plus

  • Identifiesand addresses performance expectations; providestimelyfeedback

  • Proactive, innovative business development professional with excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills. Ability to create engagement and manage expectations.

  • Empathetic leader and team member, with an ability to build trust with internal clients by setting responsiveness standards, understanding businesspriorities,and navigating points of sensitivity

  • High degree of intellectual curiosity; ability to learn and integrate the use of firm resources and technologies into all activity according to best practices

  • Strong professional presence comfortable interacting and collaborating with lawyers, otherprofessionals,and staff within the firm;possessesdiplomacy, enthusiasm,perseverance,and a sense of humor

  • A problem solver who is detail-oriented and highly organized; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with limited to no supervision, delegate appropriately and deal with ambiguity

  • Willingness to take onadditionalresponsibility, including assisting others with mentoring and coaching, onboarding, advocating best practices and engaging with other BSP teams on internal firm projects

  • Clear and concise written/oral communication skills

  • Strongproficiencyin using Microsoft Suite (including direct experience with PowerPoint and advanced functions within Excel); experience with CRM and experience management systems a plus
