Working to protect the state’s environment and heritage.
Heritage NSW is seeking a Manager Briefings & Strategic Coordination. This is a senior, high‑trust role for an experienced executive officer who brings sound judgement, initiative and the confidence to operate with autonomy in a complex and fast‑moving environment.
You will lead the delivery of high‑quality ministerial and parliamentary briefings while providing strategic coordination across Heritage NSW’s priority work. The role requires someone who can see the whole system, anticipate issues, and drive outcomes — not just manage process.
About the role
You will lead a small, high‑performing team responsible for the end‑to‑end coordination and delivery of ministerial and parliamentary material, including:
You will work closely with the Executive Director and key stakeholders across the Department to ensure advice is timely, accurate and fit for purpose. You will often operate with limited direction, balancing competing priorities and tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and integrity.
Beyond briefings, the role has a strong strategic coordination focus. You will provide oversight of priority initiatives, support executive decision‑making, identify risks and dependencies, and contribute to continuous improvement across governance, reporting and ways of working.
This is a role for someone who enjoys responsibility, takes ownership and is comfortable being relied upon as a trusted adviser.
About you
You are an experienced government professional with a strong track record delivering high‑quality advice in complex, politically sensitive environments. You bring sound judgement and the ability to quickly synthesise complex information into clear, practical advice for senior decision‑makers.
Your experience may come from parliamentary, ministerial, policy, strategic coordination or executive support roles. You understand government processes, protocols and the realities of working where priorities shift and issues are often high‑profile.
You are a confident and credible communicator. You build trust quickly, influence effectively and navigate senior stakeholder relationships with professionalism and discretion. Your writing is clear, concise and in plain English, and you can tailor advice for different audiences and forums.
As a people leader, you set clear expectations, support capability development and foster a collaborative, accountable team culture. You are resilient, adaptable and motivated by delivering outcomes in an environment where autonomy is expected and impact is visible.
You’ll be joining a values‑driven organisation committed to public service excellence and the protection of NSW’s rich and diverse heritage.
