Job Description

We’re searching for a Manager for Basic & Translational Research - Hematology/Oncology, someone who’s ready to be part of a growing team with amazing opportunities. In this position you will be responsible for the overall operation, leadership, strategic direction, and administration of the research laboratory, including Translational research laboratories, shared research technology services, and specialized platforms such as flow cytometry. Oversees personnel, resources, regulatory compliance, and financial stewardship across multiple laboratories supporting basic, translational, and investigator-initiated research. Manages multiple research programs and supports multiple investigators, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities, regulatory requirements, and operational best practices.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinates research laboratory operations including planning, development, and execution of translational research and shared research technology services. Manages fiscal accountability for laboratory operations, including personnel, equipment, supplies, service contracts, and capital expenditures across multiple research platforms.
  • Provides leadership, education, and direction to investigators, laboratory staff, and institutional leadership in the development of policies, procedures, and operational plans to support complex research laboratory functions. Collaborates with departments and administrative partners regarding laboratory staffing models, service recovery, recharge structures, grants and contracts, and research budgeting.
  • Monitors and assures compliance with applicable regulatory agencies and institutional policies, including IRB, biosafety, HIPAA, Joint Commission, and other research and laboratory oversight requirements relevant to translational and shared research laboratories.
  • Provides oversight for research laboratory support staff, including laboratory managers, research technologists, flow cytometry staff, research assistants, and other specialized support personnel. Ensures staff training, competency validation, certification, and compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.

Skills & Requirements

  • Master's Degree Business Administration, Nursing, Public Health or another related field
  • 5 years research operational experience with increasing responsibility
