Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree or above in medicine, science, business, or a related discipline, with a postgraduate qualification being a distinct advantage. They should have a minimum of 8 years of professional work experience in a relevant industry, specifically spanning technology commercialization, innovation management, stakeholder engagement, startup ecosystems, healthcare innovation, policy research, or corporate strategy. Demonstrated experience in driving cross-sector collaborations involving academia, government, industry, and investors is required. Applicants must possess a proven track record in organizing high-level events, such as seminars, roadshows, policy roundtables, conferences, or industry forums, alongside the ability to develop strategic partnerships and revenue-generating initiatives. Familiarity with innovation funding schemes, grant administration, investor engagement, or early-stage fundraising is essential. Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, as well as strong analytical, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills are required. Applicants should also demonstrate the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while being highly motivated, innovative, and industrious.
The appointee will serve as the Business Development Manager of the newly established Centre for Health AI Research and Translation (CHART), playing a pivotal role in technology commercialization and business development by supporting the development and execution of commercialization strategies for medical and health technology innovations within the Centre, HKUMed, and HKU. He/She will identify new business development opportunities, including industry collaborations, strategic alliances, and translational partnerships, and proactively engage corporates, startups, venture capital firms, industry associations, and public agencies to build sustainable partnership pipelines. Responsibilities also include facilitating industry-sponsored research collaborations, co-development initiatives, and supporting revenue-generating initiatives related to technology licensing, partnership programmes, and innovation platforms. In addition, the appointee will oversee executive programme design and implementation, which involves designing and executing executive-level programmes, short courses, and innovation workshops tailored for industry leaders, healthcare executives, startups, and policymakers. He/She will also lead participant recruitment strategies, oversee end-to-end programme execution—including curriculum coordination, speaker engagement, logistics planning, marketing communications, and post-programme evaluation—and develop necessary programme materials such as briefing decks, case studies, promotional content, and executive reports, while building long-term alumni frameworks to sustain impact. Furthermore, the appointee will contribute to ecosystem building and strategic engagement by collaborating closely with faculty researchers to identify translational opportunities, organizing high-impact transfer events like innovation showcases and policy dialogues, providing strategic and operational support to senior management during high-level external engagements, assisting in the administration and coordination of innovation and technology-related funding schemes, and performing other duties as assigned.
