Asset Protection Manager – China : Become the Newest Member of the VF Family

As the Asset Protection Manager, you will play a critical role in protecting VF’s people, assets, and operations across 300+ retail locations and distribution center(s) in China, while also providing subject‑matter expertise and targeted support to high‑risk and high‑shrink locations across the APAC region.

This role serves as the regional expert for asset protection, loss prevention, investigations, and health & safety, with a strong focus on proactive risk identification, prevention, and control effectiveness. The position is designed to ensure consistent execution of VF standards, strengthen governance, and support business resilience as the retail and supply chain footprint continues to evolve.

You will partner closely with China and APAC stakeholders across Retail, Supply Chain, HR, and Corporate functions to identify emerging risks, support high‑risk locations, and embed a strong culture of safety, accountability, and compliance.

How You Will Make a Difference

Asset Protection & Loss Prevention (China Retail & APAC Support)

  • Provide asset protection leadership across 300+ retail locations in China supporting multiple brands.
  • Act as a regional subject matter expert, providing guidance and hands‑on support to high‑shrink or high‑risk stores in other APAC markets, as required.
  • Drive proactive risk assessments, preventive strategies, and control improvements to protect inventory, cash, facilities, and brand reputation.
  • Lead and manage internal and external theft investigations, including interviews, evidence review, case documentation, and resolution.
  • Support store teams during high‑risk incidents, ensuring appropriate response, escalation, and mitigation.
  • Analyze shrink, incident, and operational data to identify trends, vulnerabilities, and leading risk indicators.
  • Develop and execute targeted action plans for stores or markets with elevated risk profiles.
  • Utilize VF and brand audit programs to drive operational discipline, compliance, and inventory integrity.
  • Oversee and support the effectiveness of loss prevention systems and technology, including CCTV, EAS, alarms, safes, exception reporting, and case management platforms.

Health & Safety (Retail & Distribution Center – China)

  • Support and strengthen health & safety governance across retail stores and distribution center(s) in China.
  • Partner with Retail and Supply Chain leaders to ensure alignment with VF standards, local regulations, and internal policies.
  • Conduct or support safety audits, risk assessments, and site reviews to identify hazards and control gaps.
  • Support investigations of safety incidents, near misses, and injuries, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and tracked.
  • Promote a preventive safety culture through coaching, awareness initiatives, and leadership engagement.
  • Support emergency preparedness, crisis response readiness, and safe‑work practices across locations.

Partnership, Governance & Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong working relationships with internal partners including Retail Leadership, District Managers, Regional Directors, HR, Employee Relations, Inventory Control, Supply Chain, Legal, and Finance.
  • Collaborate with Global Asset Protection leadership and business teams to support cross‑market initiatives and high‑risk interventions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, including law enforcement and industry networks, to support investigations and organized retail crime prevention.
  • Support and oversee third‑party security providers, ensuring alignment with VF standards and expectations.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the business on asset protection, safety, and risk matters, influencing decisions through insight and data.

Skills for Success

Years of Related Professional Experience: 6+ years

  • Strong experience in asset protection, loss prevention, or operational risk management within retail and/or distribution environments.
  • Working knowledge of health & safety principles, ideally across retail and warehouse operations.
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret data and identify risk trends and early warning indicators.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong presentation and training capability.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion.
  • Experience leading or influencing others; people‑management experience preferred depending on scope.
  • Fluency in Mandarin and English required.

Educational / Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 2 years of general management experience in Asset Protection, Loss Prevention, Safety, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional certifications in Loss Prevention, Asset Protection, or Health & Safety strongly preferred.

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements

  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Availability to respond to incidents or emergencies outside normal business hours, including nights or weekends.
  • Willingness to travel within China and periodically across APAC, including to support high‑risk or high‑shrink locations (up to 40 to 50%).
