Job Description

Full-time, 40 hours/week

Monday- Friday 8am-4:30pm

Hybrid remote (6-12 days onsite/month)


The Manager of Annual Giving is a goal-oriented fundraising professional responsible for overseeing the strategic execution and day-to-day management of a comprehensive annual giving program. This includes leading multi-channel direct response efforts—direct mail, email, and digital fundraising—with a focus on donor acquisition, retention, and pipeline development.

This role also manages a mid-level giving program, a grateful patient fundraising initiative and employee campaign ensuring integration and alignment with broader development goals. The Manager supervises Development Coordinators focused on mid-level donor engagement and stewardship, as well as Direct Response Specialists responsible for campaign execution and data coordination.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the strategy, execution, and optimization of multi‑channel annual giving campaigns across direct mail, email, and digital platforms.
  2. Supervise, coach, and develop direct response, mid‑level giving, and gift processing staff to ensure accountability and strong performance.
  3. Oversee campaign planning, including timelines, messaging, segmentation, vendor management, and quality control.
  4. Drive donor acquisition, retention, and pipeline growth through data‑informed annual giving strategies.
  5. Develop and manage the mid‑level giving program, including retention strategies, upgrades, and personalized stewardship.
  6. Personally cultivate and steward select mid‑level donors ($5,000–$24,999) to strengthen long‑term donor relationships.
  7. Manage the grateful patient fundraising program in collaboration with clinical partners, ensuring ethical and HIPAA‑compliant outreach.
  8. Monitor, analyze, and report on campaign performance metrics, using insights to refine strategy and execution.
  9. Partner with Advancement Services to maintain data integrity, accurate gift processing, and reliable reporting.
  10. Collaborate cross‑functionally with development, stewardship, digital communications teams, and external vendors to align fundraising efforts with institutional goals.

Technical Expertise

  1. Multi-channel direct response fundraising across direct mail, email, and digital platforms
  2. Annual giving campaign planning, execution, and optimization
  3. Donor segmentation, targeting, and messaging strategy for fundraising appeals
  4. Performance measurement using key performance indicators (KPIs) for annual fund campaigns
  5. Data-driven analysis to refine channel strategy and donor engagement
  6. Use of fundraising CRMs (e.g., Blackbaud, Salesforce) for donor management and reporting
  7. Proficiency with email marketing platforms supporting fundraising and donor communications
  8. Oversight of gift processing workflows to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and data integrity
  9. Technical knowledge of mid-level giving programs, including donor retention and upgrade strategies
  10. Strong writing, project management, and communication skills.
  11. Experience with donor pipeline development, mid-level giving, or grateful patient programs strongly preferred.
  12. Ability to manage, mentor, and motivate a small team.

Education and Experience

1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Fundraising, or a related field required.
2. Certification: CFRE Preferred
3. Years of relevant experience: minimum 3 years of experience in annual giving, direct response, or donor engagement roles.
4. Years of supervisory experience: Prior supervisory experience preferred
