Manager & Actuary, Alternative Solutions
Alternative Solutions Group is a newly established team within Munich Re US Life, dedicated to delivering innovative, customized reinsurance solutions for U.S. Life & Health clients. Our mandate is to address unique and complex needs through creative structures that may include biometric and financial reinsurance, third-party capital, asset management partnerships, and other novel approaches. The fast growing U.S. Longevity Business sits within the Alternative Solutions Group and is a key growth driver for Munich Re’s Global Ambition 2030 strategy.
This individual contributor role will focus on developing new solutions across both longevity and structured reinsurance. The primary focus will be longevity pricing, transaction analytics, and client value proposition development; the secondary focus will be structured reinsurance transaction support, including customized block, sidecar, asset-intensive, and financial reinsurance solutions. The role will also have flexibility to contribute to a range of research and development initiatives across business units, supporting new product concepts, pricing methodologies, partnership models, and analytical frameworks.
Responsibilities
Longevity Pricing and Solution Development - work closely with the Head of Alternative Solutions to evaluate longevity reinsurance opportunities, build pricing capabilities, and develop new value propositions for the U.S. longevity market. Specific tasks may include:
Structured Reinsurance and Transaction Support - support the evaluation, structuring, pricing, and execution of customized reinsurance transactions with a focus on practical, scalable solutions for client needs. Specific tasks may include:
Research, Development, and Cross-Business Unit Initiatives - contribute to innovation across Alternative Solutions and other business units by helping identify, test, and develop new reinsurance solutions. Specific tasks may include:
Qualifications
Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex actuarial, financial, and transaction analysis into clear business recommendations; Python and R experience preferred
