Job Description

Renison University College, affiliated with the University of Waterloo, acknowledges that we live and work on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Renison is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land promised to the Six Nations that includes ten kilometres on either side of the Grand River. Renison invites applications for a full-time, ongoing position of Manager, Advancement and Communications (35 hours per week) with the salary range of: $65,850 and $82,313 per annum. This position is open to qualified candidates who are legally entitled to work in Canada.

Job Opportunity:

The Manager of Advancement and Communications will champion fund development and stewardship activities for the College. In addition to designing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising and stewardship program, you will help to develop a culture of philanthropy throughout the College and its Board, ensuring consistent growth in the College’s fundraising initiatives, pipeline development, and promoting fundraising and stewardship best practices.

Your communications skills will provide leadership, strategy, and hands-on execution in internal communications, external relations, media engagement, and donor and alumni communications. Serving as a key advisor and central point of coordination, the Manager ensures that messaging to faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, partners, and media supports Renison’s mission and strengthens the College’s reputation and mission.

This role collaborates with staff and faculty across Renison and with colleagues at University of Waterloo.

Additionally, the incumbent will represent Renison in a manner consistent with the values, goals, and strategic directions of the University College.

Qualifications

  • University or College degree, or related work experience, in a relevant discipline, such as Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • CFRE accreditation, or equivalent, is preferred.

Experience

  • Extensive experience in use of Raiser’s Edge NXT and other Blackbaud CRM systems.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across print, web, and multimedia formats.
  • Minimum of 2 - 3 years in progressive fundraising roles.
  • Proven track record managing a diverse fundraising portfolio, including securing major gifts, grants, legacy gifts, and partnerships.
  • Significant experience navigating multi-stakeholder fundraising environments and building strong relationships with boards, community members and alumni.
  • Demonstrated success in successfully stewarding long-term, meaningful and authentic relationships.
  • Experience in organizing and managing alumni and donor events.
  • Demonstrated experience with creative design tools such as Canva, Illustrator, Adobe Suite and video editing software.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, collaborate across departments, and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations
