In this role, you'll:


be working as part of a team delivering high‑quality financial governance, accounting policy, and compliance across Sydney Metro, this newly created role will play a critical part in strengthening our financial control environment.

This role will see you develop, interpret and implement financial policies, provide high‑level technical accounting advice, oversee compliance processes, and support consistent, accurate, and standards‑aligned financial reporting across the organisation.

You will work across divisions and with cluster partners to embed best‑practice accounting standards, financial policies and procedures and ensure Sydney Metro meets its regulatory, audit and stewardship responsibilities.

You will be managing overall compliance with TPG 24-08, or any of its subsequent TPGs including the development of the annual controls testing program, performance of controls testing on a risk-assessed basis, appropriate recording of testing results and briefing to executives, Board and Audit and Risk Committee.

You will engage with the Risk and Internal audit functions to ensure the controls library and annual testing plan is always fit-for-purpose.

You will manage and coordinate response and executive briefings to various Audit Office reporting, this includes management letter points, Auditor General’s report to parliament and performance audit requests; and oversee the implementation of agreed recommendations arising from audit reports.

About you


You bring strong expertise in Australian Accounting Standards, technical accounting and financial reporting, with experience in large or complex environments. You can clearly explain complex accounting matters, provide practical and meaningful advice, and ensure compliance with standards and policies.

You enjoy navigating complex environments, interpreting diverse legislative and regulatory requirements, managing multiple high value and high risk transactions, and balancing commercial objectives with public accountability and compliance. 

You’re comfortable working in a government control environment, engaging with diverse stakeholders, and influencing without direct authority. With strong negotiation and communication skills, you can guide teams through policy interpretation, challenge assumptions and build alignment across finance, audit and external agencies.

You’re proactive, confident in shaping a newly created role, and able to uplift financial policy, reporting quality and compliance across the organisation.
