Job Description

Accounting Manager (Team Lead AR/AP) (m/w/d)

Location: Zurich, Switzerland | Position: Permanent

The Opportunity

We are seeking an operationally-minded Accounting Manager to lead our transactional finance team. This is a pivotal role for a professional who thrives on creating structure and driving operational excellence within a fast-paced international environment.

As a specialist in process optimization, you will not only manage the day-to-day accounting activities but also act as an architect for financial frameworks that ensure precision and scalability. You will be a key partner to the finance leadership, ensuring that our accounting "engine" runs with maximum efficiency.

Core Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Direct and manage a team of 5-7 accountants focused on Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and Collections. Your goal is to establish high standards of performance and implement robust operational KPIs.
  • Financial Reporting & GL: Take full ownership of the General Ledger (GL) for specific Swiss entities, ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual closings in accordance with Swiss standards.
  • Strategic Deputization: Serve as the primary backup for the Head of Accounting, providing high-level support on technical accounting matters and operational decisions.
  • Process Transformation: Continuously evaluate and improve existing accounting workflows. You will play a leading role in enhancing efficiency and preparing the team for future collaboration with international shared service centers.
  • Responsibility for financial statements prepared under accounting standards as IFRS and Swiss GAAP.
  • Audit Management: Primary point of contact and coordination for external statutory auditors and internal auditors.

Your Professional Profile

  • Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting. A Swiss Federal Diploma in Finance and Accountancy (Fachausweis), CPA or equivalent is highly preferred.
  • Experience: A solid professional background with a clear history of career development in permanent roles. You should have a proven track record of managing teams within a transactional finance environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of Swiss GAAP and the Swiss Code of Obligations (OR).
  • Systems & Mindset: Highly proficient in modern ERP systems (experience with Workday is a significant advantage). You possess a mindset focused on continuous improvement and the automation of manual processes.
  • Communication: Fluent English is essential for this international scope. Professional proficiency in German and/or French is a strong asset.

What is Offered

  • A leadership role with significant impact on the organizational framework.
  • A professional environment that values technical expertise and structured growth.
  • A central workplace in Zurich with a competitive compensation package.

Why you should join us

  • Attractive Compensation: Benefit from a market-competitive base salary, a motivating commission scheme, and the opportunity to participate in our lucrative employee stock purchase plan.
  • Health & Wellbeing: Your health is our priority – we support you with a contribution of up to CHF 400 per year towards your health insurance premiums.
  • Work-Life Balance & Family: Enjoy 5 weeks of annual leave as standard. For new fathers, we provide an additional week of paternity leave beyond the statutory requirement.
  • Mobility from Day 1: We provide you with a Half-Fare Travelcard (Halbtax) right from the start, so you can travel comfortably and affordably, even in your free time.
  • Growth & Perspective: Advance your career through tailored professional development. Our culture pays off: 80% of our leadership positions are filled internally!
  • Exclusive Benefits: Take advantage of various discounts and special offers through our wide network of corporate partners.
