The Manager, North America Accounting is responsible for leading key accounting operations and month-end close activities across the North American legal entities. This role oversees accounting processes including accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury support, lease accounting, intercompany accounting, and financial account reconciliations while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, and company policies.

The position partners closely with the Corporate Controller, Finance leadership, internal stakeholders, and external auditors to drive accurate financial reporting, process improvements, and strong internal controls.

1. Primary Responsibilities:

Financial Close and Reporting

• Lead and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities for North America.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses.
• Review and approve month-end journal entries, accruals, and accounting adjustments.
• Support the preparation and system input of the legal entity reporting packages (Using Cognos Controller)
• Monitor accounting activities to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and corporate accounting policies.

Accounting Operations

• Manage month-end accrual processes and related supporting documentation.
• Oversee lease accounting activities and ensure compliance with ASC 842 requirements.
• Lead intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and dispute resolution across global entities.

Controls, Compliance, and Audit

• Ensure compliance with SOX requirements and maintain adequate documentation supporting key controls.
• Coordinate internal and external audit requests and serve as a primary audit liaison for assigned areas.
• Identify control gaps and implement process improvements to strengthen the control environment.
• Maintain supporting documentation and audit-ready accounting records.

Leadership and Continuous Improvement

• Lead, develop, and mentor accounting team members through coaching, performance management, and career development.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure team effectiveness and service levels.
• Partner with shared services, FP&A, tax, treasury, and business leaders to improve processes and resolve issues.
• Drive automation, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives across accounting processes.
• Support system implementations, upgrades, and finance transformation initiatives, including SAP and reporting tools.

Additional Responsibilities

• Support the Controller with special projects, acquisitions, integrations, and strategic initiatives.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

1. Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA certification a plus.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or management responsibilities.
• Experience managing month-end close processes in a multinational environment preferred.
• Public accounting experience is a plus.

1. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks.
• Experience with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA.
• Experience with financial consolidation and reporting tools such as Cognos Controller.
• Experience with Power BI, Power Query, or other business intelligence tools preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Effective communicator with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization.
• Proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, and drive accountability.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and process optimization.

Pay is in the range of $100,600 - $127,225 per year.  The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.  All candidates are encouraged to apply.
