Job Description

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the corporate accounting function, including ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting processes. This role will oversee general ledger activities, financial statement preparation and review, consolidations across multiple legal entities, and the accounting and reconciliation of intercompany transactions.

The Accounting Manager will collaborate closely with the AP Lead to ensure accounts payable transactions and employee expenses are captured accurately and completely in the financial statements and are recorded in the appropriate accounting periods. The role will provide accounting oversight and guidance while partnering with the AP Lead to identify and resolve accounting issues, accruals, cutoff matters, and other items impacting financial reporting.

This role will ensure that financial results are complete, accurate, and delivered in accordance with established close deadlines and U.S. GAAP. The Accounting Manager will also maintain internal controls, support audits and regulatory compliance, improve accounting processes through technology, and provide leadership and development to the accounting team.This position requires a hands-on leader who can manage the end-to-end financial close while collaborating effectively with shared services, finance, operations, and business leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage corporate accounting operations, including general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and financial reporting, to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
  • Manage the preparation, review, and delivery of complete and accurate financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, and supporting schedules, in accordance with U.S. GAAP, internal accounting policies, and established reporting deadlines.
  • Manage the end-to-end corporate close and financial reporting process, including development and management of the close calendar, review of journal entries and account reconciliations, consolidation of multiple entities, preparation and review of financial statements, variance analysis, and timely resolution of accounting issues.
  • Partner closely with the AP Lead to ensure AP transactions and employee expenses are accurately and completely captured in the financial statements, including appropriate cutoff, accruals, account coding, and period-end adjustments. Provide accounting guidance and oversight to ensure AP activity is properly reflected in the financial results.
  • Coordinate the consolidation of financial statements across multiple entities, ensuring consistent application of accounting standards and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee intercompany accounting across multiple legal entities, including transaction recording, due-to and due-from reconciliations, intercompany settlements, elimination entries, and investigation and resolution of out-of-balance conditions to support accurate consolidated financial reporting.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, including finance, operations, shared services, and leadership, to resolve accounting issues, improve financial processes, and achieve organizational objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust system of internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records, and mitigate risks related to financial reporting and compliance.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team, fostering an environment of professional growth, continuous learning, and commitment to excellence.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize accounting processes through the integration of technology and innovative solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Manage the accurate preparation and timely filing of regulatory documents, such as 1099 forms, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) status strongly preferred
  • Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, with a preference for healthcare industry
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, multi-entity accounting, intercompany transactions, and financial reporting
  • Experience managing monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including reconciliations, accruals, cutoff, and elimination entries
  • Experience partnering with AP teams and overseeing the accounting impact of AP, employee expenses, vendor management, and payment processes; Concur experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of internal controls related to financial reporting, AP, vendor management, expenses, and payments
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, and influencing skills, with the ability to work independently and challenge the status quo
  • Demonstrate strategic mindset, adaptability, and ability to drive effective decision-making in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
    • Hybrid – San Antonio (the office 4 days a week)
    • Must maintain professional appearance.

This position will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The position may also entail light lifting of supplies and materials occasionally, up to and including 20 pounds in addition to reaching, stooping, standing, and walking.
