
The Manager, Accounting leads a team of accounting professionals and is responsible for managing daily operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting for the business unit. This role oversees core accounting processes, manages the month‑end close activities, and upholds strong internal controls across assigned areas. The Manager, Accounting provides technical accounting guidance, reviews and approves team work, and ensures consistent application of company policies and accounting standards.
In addition to managing workflow, this role focuses on developing team capabilities through coaching, training, and performance feedback. The Manager, Accounting partners with cross‑functional teams to resolve complex issues, support audits, and drive operational efficiencies. This position reports to the Director, North America Accounting.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead month‑end close activities, including journal entries, prepaids/accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
Oversee preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages
Review trial balance and variance analyses; present key findings to management
Manage external and internal audit engagements and ensure timely completion
Maintain and monitor internal controls, including SOX compliance and control self‑assessments
Ensure adherence to corporate accounting policies and remediate control gaps as needed
Research accounting issues and document conclusions with appropriate GAAP or local regulatory references
Provide technical accounting guidance to team members and business partners
Serve as liaison with Corporate Accounting and cross‑functional stakeholders
Manage and develop a team of accounting professionals through coaching, performance feedback, and goal setting
Oversee hiring, onboarding, and training for accounting staff
Foster a high‑performance, collaborative team environment, and lead the team to adapt department priorities as well as short-term projects
Lead workflow and process enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and control
Support system updates, reporting improvements, and cross‑functional projects
Lead a culture of continuous improvement within the Accounting team
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
CPA or Master degree/MBA in Accounting/Finance
5 + years of relevant Accounting/Finance experience with a minimum of 3 years in a multi-national U.S. corporation or global accounting firm
2+ years of proven, successful leadership and management experience
Comprehensive knowledge and experience with U.S. GAAP
Experience with HFM (Hyperion Financial Management)
Strong experience with IQMS highly preferred
Experience with large, complex global ERP systems (Oracle or SAP)
Intermediate/Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel in financial and data analysis
In-office role and requires work on-site during core business hours
PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Big 4 public accounting experience or equivalent technical foundation Demonstrated success implementing process or systems improvements in an accounting environment
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across operational and corporate functions
