Compensation: ₹1,531,000 - ₹2,552,000 / year


The Transport Manager will lead end‑to‑end transport operations across multiple locations, managing a 1,000‑member workforce and a large fleet to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-efficient transportation services. This role is responsible for strategic planning, operational excellence, vendor management, compliance, route optimization, and developing a high‑performance operations culture.

Key Responsibilities


1. Transport Operations Leadership

  • Lead day‑to‑day transport operations across hubs, routes, and shifts.
  • Oversee scheduling, routing, dispatch, and workforce allocation for ~1,000 staff.
  • Drive availability, punctuality, trip adherence, and service-level performance.

2. Strategic Planning & Optimization

  • Develop transport strategy aligned with business growth and operational targets.
  • Implement route optimization, fleet utilization models, and demand forecasting.
  • Introduce automation and digital tools (GPS, TMS, telematics) to improve efficiency.

3. Transport Operations Leadership

3. Workforce Management

  • Lead a transport workforce of ~1,000 FTEs, including driver workforce & supervisory staff.
  • Plan hiring, training, shift management, and succession planning.
  • Build a safety-first culture with regular training, audits, and compliance check-ins.

4. Vendor & Fleet Management

  • Manage relationships with fleet providers, leasing partners, and transport vendors.
  • Ensure fleet availability, timely maintenance, fuel efficiency, and asset health.
  • Drive cost efficiencies through contract negotiations and performance management.

5. Compliance & Safety Management

  • Ensure compliance with transport laws, RTO requirements, safety norms, audits, and internal policies.
  • Implement and monitor safety protocols, incident reporting, and root-cause analysis.
  • Lead risk mitigation strategies to reduce breakdowns, delays, and safety incidents.

6. Cost, Budget & KPI Management

  • Own transport budget, cost-per-km, fleet utilization metrics, and vendor performance.
  • Monitor SLAs, KPIs, and operational dashboards; report performance to leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost and improve service quality.

7. Stakeholder & Customer Engagement

  • Collaborate with business units, HR, security, and facilities teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Manage internal customer expectations and deliver consistent service quality.
  • Lead communication during disruptions, escalations, or emergency situations.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA/Operations/Logistics specialization preferred.
  • 10–15+ years of experience managing large-scale transport or logistics operations.
  • Proven experience handling 500+ FTEs (1,000+ preferred).
  • Strong understanding of fleet operations, transport compliance, and vendor management.
