Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Nielsen Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our Media & Entertainment practice and support our clients in their audience measurement transformation journeys.

The ideal candidate would bring hands-on experience in designing and engineering large-scale Nielsen data products using modern data platforms such as Databricks. The role focuses on enabling measurement use cases across content audience analysis, campaign performance measurement and cross‑platform viewership insights.

This role requires deep functional knowledge of cross-platform audience measurement combined with strong technical skills to translate large-scale Nielsen feeds into actionable insights that drive decision-making across content acquisition, scheduling, editorial and marketing functions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Interact with stakeholders with varying levels of technical fluency to gather requirements, understand business objectives and translate them into clear analytical and data needs
  • Design and build scalable data pipelines using modern data platforms such as Databricks to support a wide array of ad-hoc analytics and reporting needs
  • Develop optimized SQL queries against large-scale Nielsen feeds, including AMRLD, NRLD and MIT, to solve business problems and enable actionable insights
  • Translate complex business logic into efficient ETL pipelines tailored for big data environments
  • Serve as an SME for the Nielsen ecosystem and contribute to advancing EXL’s audience measurement capabilities

Must have:

  • 4+ years of analytics or data engineering experience solving complex business problems
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python/PySpark for hands on data manipulation, pipeline development, and big data processing
  • 2+ years of hands on experience working with Nielsen data products and big data feeds (e.g., AMRLD, NRLD, MIT, NNTV, NPOWER) creating data products for audience measurement
  • Functional understanding of Nielsen measurement methodologies
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into structured analytical problems
  • Excellent communication skills to gather requirements and communicate methodology, data nuances and findings to both technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Strong business acumen & demonstrated aptitude to generate analytics that drive action

Good to Have:

  • Consulting experience advising Media & Entertainment clients
  • Experience with:
    1. Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Databricks, Snowflake
    2. CI/CD pipelines
    3. Workflow Schedulers and ETL orchestration tools (Apache Airflow, Cron)
  • Exposure to data architecture concepts and data-mart design
  • Working knowledge of visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI
  • Experience in content performance analytics, TV/streaming measurement, media research or audience forecasting

Eligibility:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in engineering, statistics, data science, econometrics or a related quantitative field with a strong record of academic and professional achievement
