This position is located in Tallahassee, FL

and Responsibilities:

This is a professional Internal Auditor position within the Office of Inspector General. This position is responsible for coordinating and conducting audits and reviews of Department operations, programs, contracts, and agreements in compliance with professional auditing standards. Assignments are performed with an emphasis on improving efficiency, effectiveness, internal controls, compliance, and operational processes. Duties may require the incumbent to participate in confidential activities which may require access to confidential personnel information, and labor relations functions. Occasional travel may be required.

Specifically, the position is responsible for the following:

  • Conducting audit engagements in accordance with Section 20.055, Florida Statutes, Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards, and the Principles and Standards for Offices of Inspector General.
  • Providing technical assistance, advisory services, research, and training assistance as required.
  • Preparing oral and written briefings.
  • Preparing draft and final reports.
  • Analyzing supporting documentation, drawing conclusions, and developing appropriate findings and recommendations.
  • Preparing thorough, complete, and accurate documentation of work performed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis.
  • Knowledge of basic management principles and practices.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow and other activities relating to the improvement of operational and management practices.
  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials.
  • Ability to conduct fact-finding research.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to operational and management analysis activities.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License

Position of Special Trust Requirement:

This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in auditing, investigations, or contract/grant management.

Pay:

Anticipated hiring salary $61,864/annually.
