$92,000 per annum + superannuation (pro rata from $115,000 full-time equivalent)

We’re looking for a skilled Management Accountant to join MADEC, a leading community organisation providing supports across the Mackay and Whitsunday Region for over 50 years. In this role, you’ll provide high-quality management accounting, financial reporting and financial analysis to support informed operational and organisational decision-making, while working closely with managers and leaders across MADEC to improve financial understanding, accountability and performance.

About the Role:

As the Management Accountant, you will provide high-quality management accounting, financial reporting and financial analysis to support MADEC’s operational and organisational decision-making.

Working closely with the General Manager Corporate Services and Service Managers, you will support monthly financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, reconciliations, financial controls and audit requirements.

You will also provide practical financial advice and analysis to help managers understand financial performance, identify emerging pressures and make informed operational decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate the monthly financial close process and prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments, provisions and balance-sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare variance analysis and investigate significant financial movements.
• Assist with annual budgeting, quarterly reviews and maintain rolling forecasts.
• Analyse revenue, labour costs, overtime, utilisation, occupancy and other key financial drivers.
• Work with NDIS, Youth Services, Clinical Services and Corporate Services managers to improve financial understanding and performance.
• Provide cost-centre and service-level financial analysis.
• Prepare financial scenarios, sensitivity analysis and financial modelling where required.
• Support cash-flow forecasting, accounts receivable and financial commitments.
• Maintain and monitor key financial controls and reconciliation processes.
• Support audit activities, statutory reporting and preparation of annual financial statements.
• Provide leadership, technical guidance and support to finance employees.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting, efficiency and financial controls.
• Assist with pricing, costing, business-case development, tenders, grants, property and capital projects.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
• CPA qualification or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• Current professional membership where applicable.
• Demonstrated experience in management accounting and financial reporting.
• Experience preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis experience.
• Experience with financial reconciliations and financial controls.
• Experience supporting audits and statutory financial requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced spreadsheet and financial modelling skills.
• Ability to interpret financial information and clearly explain financial results to non-finance managers.
• Experience using financial management systems and advanced spreadsheet functions.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and identify and appropriately escalate significant financial issues.
• Practical and collaborative business-partnering skills.
• Commitment to continuous improvement.

Desirable: Experience working in a not-for-profit, disability, community, health or human-services organisation; NDIS or other government-funded service environments; grant acquittals and restricted funding; payroll-intensive organisations; ERP, payroll, rostering or business intelligence systems; service costing or commercial analysis; and MYOB.
