Job Description

Adelaide | Permanent Full Time | Growth-Focused Deep-Tech Business

QuantX Labs is an emerging Australian deep-tech company developing advanced technologies across the Space, Defence and Commercial sectors. We are growing quickly, working on complex programs and building the systems, capability and infrastructure needed to support our next phase.

We are looking for a Management Accountant to join our Finance team in Adelaide. This is a great opportunity for a technically strong accountant who wants broad exposure and the opportunity to grow their commercial capability as the business evolves.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this is a broad, hands-on role spanning financial and management accounting, month-end, management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, project and program financial reporting, cost analysis and financial controls.

You will take ownership of core accounting and reporting activities, helping ensure the integrity of our financial information, while working closely with leaders across the business to provide insight, support informed decision-making and improve the systems and processes that underpin the Finance function.

The role will suit someone with strong technical foundations, sound judgement and a hands-on approach who enjoys understanding the story behind the numbers and wants to play an active role in developing how Finance supports a growing technology business.

The Opportunity

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Own month-end close, journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare management accounts, financial reports, and variance analysis for Board and Executive reporting.
  • Prepare and maintain budgets, forecasts and cash flow projections.
  • Work with Project Managers to provide project and program financial reporting, including cost and performance analysis.
  • Coordinate and assist with audit, statutory reporting, tax, compliance and financial controls.
  • Assist with the preparation and tracking of Research and Development Tax Incentive (R&DTI) activities.
  • Support fixed asset and capital expenditure tracking.
  • Provide financial insight to leaders across the business to support decision-making.
  • Improve finance systems, reporting, controls and processes, including greater use of automation and tools such as Xero and Power BI.

About You

We are looking for someone who combines strong accounting foundations with commercial curiosity and an improvement mindset.

You will ideally bring:

  • Approximately 4–6 years’ relevant accounting experience across financial and/or management accounting.
  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
  • CPA, CA or equivalent recognised professional accounting qualification, or working towards completion.
  • Experience across month-end, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Confidence working with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Strong systems aptitude and an interest in improving how finance operates.
  • A proactive, adaptable and hands-on approach.

Experience within a growing, technology, engineering or similarly complex environment, will be highly regarded.

Why QuantX Labs?

This is an opportunity to join a venture-backed deep-tech business at a significant stage of growth and play a meaningful role in how its finance capability develops.

You can expect:

  • Exposure to a high-growth environment - gain experience supporting a business that is scaling its operations, capability and commercial footprint.
  • The opportunity to build, not just maintain - help improve reporting, systems, controls and processes as the Finance function evolves.
  • Broad commercial exposure - work across financial accounting, management reporting, project finance, costing and business partnering.
  • Direct access to decision-makers - work closely with the CFO and leaders across the organisation.
  • Professional development supported - continue building your technical and commercial capability as your responsibilities grow.
  • Scope to grow with the business - with the opportunity to take on broader responsibility over time as the Finance function develops.
  • Flexible working approach - supporting flexibility while maintaining strong connection with the team and business.
  • Meaningful and technically interesting work - support an Australian deep-tech company operating across Space, Defence and Commercial markets.
  • Visible impact - see how your analysis and insights influence business decisions and financial performance.

If you are looking for a role where you can combine strong accounting foundations with commercial thinking and help shape a growing Finance function, we would love to hear from you.
