Days/Evenings/occasional Saturdays, hours based on needs of department

General Summary

Performs routine screening and diagnostic mammography procedures, or routine screening and at least two other modalities such as x-ray, EKG or bone densitometry, or performs screening mammography in a mobile environment according to established practices and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs routine screening and diagnostic mammography procedures, or routine screening and at least two other modalities such as x-ray, EKG or bone densitometry, or performs screening mammography in a mobile environment. Obtains patient history, explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns. If performing bone densitometry exams, positions patients safely while performing scans of the spine, hip and/or forearm.
• Under the direction of a Team Leader, is responsible for assisting in the training of other technologists, certifying that techs meet competencies.
• Maintains department quality assurance programs.
• Positions patients safely and comfortably and explains basic procedures.
• Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department.
• Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
• Prepares, maintains and scans appropriate documentation required by the department.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

• High School Diploma or GED Required

Work Experience:

• 3 years Relevant experience. Required

Licenses:

• Registered Technologist-Mammography - ARRT Upon Hire Required and
• Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
• Certified Bone Densitometry Technologist Upon Hire Preferred

Courses and Training:

• Accredited program in radiologic technology and training in mammography procedures. Upon Hire Required
