
Under general supervision, performs mammographic procedures following established policies and protocols. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required May have individual responsibility within the Mammography unit. Performs Dexa testing as needed.
Performs full range of mammography procedures utilizing dedicated and specialized mammography equipment. Demonstrates accuracy with special attention on technical factors, patient positioning and film identification. Performs Dexa testing as needed.
Prepares patients appropriately for procedure following established protocols; adjusts equipment to produce high quality mammograms. Explains procedures and positioning to patients. Provides protection in accordance with prescribe radiation safety standards.
Monitors and maintains essential patient care and safety during procedures; applies safety principles as identified by established policy. Provides safe patient transport and handling.
Within established/recognized scope of practice, critiques radiographs and images, recognizing normal from abnormal tissue and taking additional required views such as magnification views.
Performs routine quality control of equipment and other quality assurance/quality control activities as required.
Prepares rooms for diagnostic procedures. Maintains order and cleanliness of department within infection control guidelines. Assists in other areas such as reception duties and clerical responsibilities, as needed.
Within the scope of licensure, educates the patient as to topics in women's health.
Serves as lead in preparing for annual survey with CDPH, gathers documentation, and quality control records. Escorts surveyor throughout survey.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
Experience: 2-3 years experience or equivalent.
License or Certification: Current CA Radiologic Technology and ARRT.CA Mammographer certificate, current CPR. ARRT (M)
