Mammography Technologists on this team playan important rolein delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while creating a supportive and compassionate experience for patients throughout their visit. The ideal caregiver is someone who helps patients feel comfortable and supported while contributing to a positive experience during an important preventive and diagnostic service.

A caregiver in this positionworksfull-time|varying shifts| rotate through evenings and Saturday shifts| every 3rd or 4thSaturday| evenings will be once or twice a week until 730pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Review mammography requisition and computer exam forms todeterminethe type of examrequired

  • Accurately position patients,determinethe exposure factors, andoperatemammography equipment according to established procedures to obtain a high-quality image.

  • Review processed images todeterminequality and the need foradditionalimages.

  • Educate patientsregardingprocedures, equipment, and the exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.

  • Ensure patients' safety and comfort during and after the exam.

  • Acquire, archive,transmit, and print images via CAD and PACS.

  • Complete after-hourstransmission of images andappropriate paperwork

  • Report any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.

  • Process billing via RIS.

  • Assistwith all policies and procedures required by local, state, and federal law, and with compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.)

  • Assistwith instrument calibration and records to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements.

  • Perform equipment checks toassureproper function of and notify clinical engineering of any equipment malfunctions.

  • Ensure exam rooms are adequately supplied with linen and related medical supplies.

  • Provide teaching and mentoring to new hires and students.

  • Strive to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.

  • Rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate of anAmerican Medical Association (AMA) approved schoolof Radiologic Technology

  • Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing

  • Certification in Mammography: R.T.(R) (M) (ARRT)

  • Current state licensure (RL)requiredprior to employment

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross

  • Successful completion of40 hoursof mammography training

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
