Job Description

Northwest Specialty Hospital is seeking a team-oriented Mammography / X-Ray Technologist to join our Imaging Team!

The Mammography Technologist functions as a healthcare provider who serves as a medical imaging professional who provides clinically relevant information to assist the physician with the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The Mammography Technologist’s activities are performed consistent with their education and training, and in accordance with facility policies and procedures and applicable professional standards. This position will maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA) and facility policies and procedures; adhere to accepted professional and ethical standards; provide patient services consistent with the Scope of Practice and Clinical Standards for Mammography technology. The Mammography Technologist will need to project a professional demeanor and appearance while maintaining the confidentiality of the Hospital and employees as appropriate.

You would perform radiologic imaging procedures on appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions. Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors. Maintains production and quality of radiographic images by following established standards and procedures. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Cooperates with facility healthcare personnel and complies with facility policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to relate and work effectively with others.
  • Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards.
  • Is aware of standards and performs in accordance with them.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer skills and software programs for documentation activities and report generation.
  • Demonstrated competence in the specialty area(s) to be performed, including mammography certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • AHA BLS Certification.
