Job Description

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Outpatient Imaging—a joint venture between Atrium Health and Outpatient Imaging Affiliates—is seeking an experienced Mammography Quality Coordinator to join our patient-centered team.

Position Details:

  • Status: Full-Time (40 hours/week)
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, dayshift
  • Location: Winston-Salem Outpatient Imaging Center
    265 Executive Park Blvd, Winston-Salem, NC

This position will work closely with our Clinical Manager and support all three outpatient imaging centers located in Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and Kernersville, while being primarily based in our Winston-Salem office.

The Mammography Quality Coordinator is responsible for overseeing quality assurance, regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, and operational efficiency across all mammography locations within WFBI. This role ensures adherence to mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and American College of Radiology (ACR) standards while maintaining exceptional quality control practices, supporting staff development, and coordinating patient care workflows. The Mammography Quality Coordinator serves as a key resource for mammography quality, compliance, and process improvement initiatives to support safe, accurate, and patient-centered breast imaging services.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinate and maintain compliance with all MQSA, ACR, state, and organizational regulatory requirements for mammography services across all WFBI locations.
  • Oversee accreditation activities, ensuring readiness for MQSA and ACR inspections, surveys, and site reviews.
  • Coordinate all annual inspections, documentation preparation, and corrective action plans required by MQSA and/or ACR.
  • Manage and maintain comprehensive quality control (QC) documentation for all mammography equipment and services across multiple sites.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of mammography protocols, equipment functionality, and quality control procedures while performing and validating QC testing.
  • Monitor compliance with established imaging protocols, technical standards, and departmental policies.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve quality-related issues to maintain optimal imaging performance and patient safety.
  • Provide patient care and maintain mammography registry.
  • Review, print, and manage mammography reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely workflow.
  • Ensure prior imaging studies are obtained, uploaded, and available for radiologist interpretation in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate and support follow-up appointments for diagnostic mammography patients to promote continuity of care.
  • Assist with patient tracking processes, including follow-up recommendations, compliance initiatives Provide orientation, training, and ongoing guidance for new mammography staff related to QC, compliance, workflow expectations, and departmental standards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor for mammography staff regarding MQSA/ACR standards and quality initiatives.
  • Promote best practices in mammography quality, patient care, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with leadership to implement process improvements and operational enhancements.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years mammography experience. QC, FDA and MQSA experience preferred.

EDUCATION

  • Must have a minimum associate's degree in Radiology or be a graduate of an accredited two-year radiology program.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • ARRT (R)(M) certification required. Candidate must be certified in Radiography and Mammography through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and maintain current, valid ARRT registration. Must also meet all applicable state licensure requirements for the state of practice. BLS certification is required within 60 days of hire.
