Make a Real Difference in a Young Person’s Life – Join Connecting Families Today

We’re urgently seeking friendly, proactive Male Support Workers to join our dedicated team in Enfield SA. This role is ideal for someone who can naturally connect with a teenage male participant who enjoys gaming, creative hobbies, and relaxed home routines.

About the Role:

You’ll be supporting a teenage boy with complex needs. He responds well to calm, consistent, and engaging support workers who can match his energy and interests. The ideal candidate would be someone with a laid-back personality, good humour, and the ability to encourage positive routines while building trust over time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build a buddy-like rapport through shared interests (e.g., gaming, walking, music).
  • Support morning/evening routines, school attendance, and home-based learning.
  • Encourage healthy choices in meals, rest, hygiene, and social skills.
  • Support emotional regulation and respond safely to escalation using therapeutic approaches.
  • Maintain household cleanliness and safety routines.
  • Administer medications and complete shift documentation as required.

About You:

  • Able to form respectful, age-appropriate bonds with youth
  • Calm, confident, and grounded when faced with challenging behaviour
  • Open-minded, patient, and capable of supporting autonomy
  • Comfortable with structure and clear boundaries
  • A positive role model with a down-to-earth presence
  • Must be physically fit and alert to respond to risk behaviours when needed

What we're looking for:

  • Certificate III or higher in Disability, Youth Work, or Community Services
  • Great communication and problem-solving skills
  • Valid South Australian Driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Experience supporting young people with behavioural or mental health challenges (1–2 years minimum)

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience in residential youth settings, SIL, or Child Protection
  • Interest in gaming, pop culture, or teen-centric activities
