Job Description

[What the role is]

The National Library Board (NLB) nurtures Readers for Life, Learning Communities and a Knowledgeable Nation by promoting reading, learning and history through our network of 28 libraries across Singapore, the National Library and the National Archives of Singapore.

At NLB, you can look forward to a flexible, hybrid work environment with rewarding, impactful deliverables that improve the lives of the community. With caring colleagues, you will be in an ideal environment for professional development, innovation and impact.
We can offer you:
• A chance to Impact the Community, bridge gaps and empower everyone with the opportunity for learning and discovery.
• An opportunity to Innovate and Push Boundaries. We value ideas, curiosity and a passion for innovation to transform our libraries and archives.
• An organisation that Cares for your Growth and Wellbeing through investment in staff development and wellbeing in a supportive and collaborative environment.

[What you will be working on]

As an intern, you will play a meaningful role in documenting and celebrating the contributions of prominent Malays in Singapore. You will conduct research and write articles of between 500 to 1,000 words for the Prominent Malays of Singapore project, contributing to a growing repository of knowledge about individuals who have shaped our community and nation. You will also help keep our existing Infopedia articles accurate and relevant by updating them with new information as it becomes available. You may also be assisting in the translation of these articles.

Beyond research and writing, you will have the opportunity to present your findings and articles to an audience through sharing sessions — a great way to build your communication skills and gain confidence in public speaking.

[What we are looking for]

We welcome applicants from all disciplines, though those with a background or interest in history, social sciences, communications, or Malay Studies will find this role particularly rewarding. You should have strong research and writing skills in English, an eye for detail, and a genuine curiosity about Singapore's heritage and the people who have shaped it.
