Job Description

We bring the energy!

Through purpose and people - not just through the infrastructure we operate, but through the way we show up for each other, our customers’ and our communities. The future of energy is in our hands. Let’s shape it together.

Are you ready to shape the future of energy?

We have an opportunity for a Program Director South Morang Terminal Station to lead the South Morang Terminal Station capital program of work (c. $800M - $1BN+ AUD), delivering the multiple asset replacement and customer-initiated projects that make up this complex, large scale, high-profile brownfield transmission investment critical to Victoria’s energy future.

This role is a core stakeholder of the SMTS projects during their development phase and will take full ownership once internal funding has been received to see the projects through design, construction and commissioning. The role holds the leadership delivery responsibility of the SMTS program, reporting to key internal and external stakeholders including the AusNet Board and key customers.

Reporting to the GM Delivery, this role is based at Freshwater Place and forms part of our Transmission leadership team. You will be expected to conduct site visits to South Morang frequently.

What you'll help deliver

  • Lead the successful delivery of a major brownfield electricity transmission program, ensuring projects achieve scope, schedule, budget and safety objectives.
  • Provide leadership oversight of risk management, schedules, commercial performance and strategies, financial forecasting and safety performance.
  • Be part of the Delivery Leadership Team with visibility to Executive General Manager of Transmission, the Executive and Board level. You will build and maintain trusted relationships with Executive and Board leaders, government bodies, regulators, customers, delivery partners and industry stakeholders.
  • Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring critical risks are effectively managed and embedded across delivery.
  • Be a program leader and a mentor to high-performing subject matter experts from a range of disciplines while contributing to the broader strategic direction of the Transmission business.

You don't need to check every box, however we're looking for a good combination of:

  • Significant experience leading the delivery of large-scale electricity infrastructure projects and programs, ideally involving brownfield electricity construction projects
  • Ideally looking for experience managing large projects (>$200M AUS) or combined portfolios of >20 projects at a time.
  • Strong project management skillsets - commercial, financial, safety and contract management expertise, with the ability to manage complex risks and delivery outcomes.
  • Demonstrated capability influencing and reporting to senior stakeholders, including executives, boards, and external stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership experience delegating to and managing the workload of high-performing individuals driving a culture of safety, accountability and excellence.
  • Relevant qualifications in Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline, supported by extensive infrastructure delivery experience.

The AusNet experience is all about…

  • Solving some of the most complex energy challenges of our time: We love unpacking complex challenges in clever ways and looking at things differently.
  • Building an energy future to be proud of: We’re a trusted leader, with deep expertise, driven to do what’s right for our communities and customers.
  • Being part of a team that cares deeply about each other: We share in the good times and support in the tough times.

We’re committed to building an inclusive culture and a diverse workforce. We believe different perspectives are essential to our success, and we encourage all applicants to apply. If you need any adjustments during the recruitment process, we're happy to discuss how we can support you.
