Major Gifts Manager

  • Based in Sydney, NSW (hybrid working arrangement). Also open to candidates from Melbourne, VIC.
  • Permanent, full-time contract. Also open to candidates seeking a 0.8FTE working arrangement.

About us

Canteen is all about supporting young people and their families affected by cancer. Founded by young cancer patients, we offer programs and resources that truly make a difference for 12-25 year-olds facing their own diagnosis, supporting a loved one, or grieving. Together, we believe our team can create real change!

We are now seeking a Major Gifts Manager , who will play a pivotal role to grow Canteen’s major gifts program. You will develop and manage relationships with major donors, Private Ancillary Funds and family foundations, identify and engage prospective high net worth individuals and families, and shape the strategy for major gifts to drive sustainable philanthropic investment in our mission.   • Base Salary + Superannuation + Not-For-Profit Salary Packaging (up to $18,550 of your salary tax-free).
  • 5 Weeks Annual Leave (FTE) + 17.5% leave loading + pay during our annual office closure week.

About our role

  • Grow major gifts revenue and multi year pledges aligned to organisational priorities and our case for support.
  • Lead a personal portfolio across discovery, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship to secure gifts above $15,000.
  • Build tailored proposals, impact reports and communications that embed the Philanthropy Case for Support.
  • Engage the CEO, Executive, Board and senior volunteers at the right moments to advance key relationships.
  • Drive operational excellence using CRM and data for pipeline, forecasting and reporting.

About You

  • A proven track record in major gifts, with success securing high value gifts and growing donor relationships.
  • Strong strategy and planning capability with a donor centred approach and knowledge of Australian philanthropic best practice.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication with the confidence to make proactive outreach.
  • High proficiency with CRM platforms such as Salesforce, using data driven decision making.
  • Warm, compassionate and collaborative, with excellent relationship skills and a passion for Canteen’s mission.

Employment Expectations

To ensure an ongoing commitment to the success of Canteen, all applications must be able to:

  • Successfully complete and maintain a current National Police Check and Working with Child Check relevant to the individual’s state jurisdiction.
  • Undergo an extensive screening process prior to appointment to guarantee the safety of all Canteen’s stakeholders.
  • Provide at least two direct referees to ensure a successful reference check is completed.
  • Provide relevant copies of professional qualification/s stated on the application.

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville. Together, we are committed to improving the health outcomes for children today and in the future.

In 2016–17, more than 85,654 children attended our Emergency Department, 322,291 specialist clinic appointments were held which was almost 70,000 more than the previous year, more than 17,000 surgeries were performed and more than 48,552 children were admitted to our wards.
