Job Description

Responsible for operational management of the Family Leadership Council, currently a $5million+ program with 250+ member families. In concert with the President’s Office, Senior Advancement Leadership, and Major Gifts, Regional Programs, Director, the position plans and executes both the annual member communications and events and provides guidance to development officers regarding engagement and solicitation opportunities for the full life cycle of membership. This position is responsible for maintaining a Family Leadership Portfolio comprising members who only intend to support Tulane with annual gifts and/or major gifts.

• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to write and speak in a clear, succinct, sincere, and compelling manner.

• Demonstrated successful experience in prospect identification and relationship building.

• Experience in working closely and/or staffing senior and executive leadership individuals.

• Experience in asking for large gifts and or/staffing volunteers to ask for large gifts.

• Ability and professional style to work with university leadership, trustees, volunteers, and top donors in an effective, diplomatic, and sophisticated manner.

• Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple activities, demands and/or projects simultaneously, while maintaining a high degree of effectiveness, a spirit of collaboration, a resilient attitude, and a sense of humor.

• Demonstrated initiative and self-starting capacity.

• Experience handling sensitive information and maintaining strict confidentiality.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2 years of combined experience in fundraising, including volunteer board management, solicitation and closing of gifts; marketing, admissions, public relations, alumni relations, trust officer, or sales experience may be considered based on relevance and skill transferability;

OR

• High School diploma or equivalent and 8 years of directly related experience.

• Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Working knowledge of and proficiency with various software systems, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Qualtrics (or other survey tools), iModules, Concur (expense systems), Affinaquest (or equivalent donor management systems, e.g., Salesforce or Blackbaud), and Drupal (or other tools for updating web pages, e.g., WordPress).
