The maintenance/driver is responsible for all the basic work inside and outside of the building, the upkeep, and cleanliness of the entire facility including repairs and ensuring it safe to operate, under the direction of the Facilities Manager at 648 3rd Ave. part of the property of Chula Vista Corps. This job also includes driving passengers.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Maintenance/Janitorial/Driving: (not listed in order of priority)

  • Maintain sidewalks clean, front of the building clean as well inside windows, floors, bathrooms etc. Bathrooms must he kept clean, with supplies needed. Discard trash on daily basis.
  • Maintain the offices clean, and have appropriate lighting, and keep the building furniture in good shape and clean.
  • Must perform daily rounds and complete daily inspections of the facility to ensure trash, recycle have been disposed of, and maintain the security of the building to ensure all doors are locked before the end of the shift.
  • Maintain basic plumbing, electricity, walls, doors, paint, and carpet. Must report all repairs, deficiencies, and safety issues to the Administrative Assistant Manager.
  • Maintain areas vacuum.
  • Assign, inventory, and distribute cleaning/maintenance supplies needed for operations. Maintain the grounds with the required landscaping services.
  • Maintain vehicles assigned for use, and report repairs/maintenance required to management.
  • Inventory tools and maintain inventory in a safe operating condition and insecure storage area.
  • Must maintain positive working relations with tenants and The Salvation Army staff, volunteers, visitors, and community representatives.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Administrative Assistant Manager.
  • Conduct maintenance repairs on furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Use proper protective equipment.
  • Supervise vendors for building repairs and for drop-offs.
  • Driving will be upon, picking up donations daily, driving to camp during summer as required, driving for kettle programs, picking up people frequently for programs including Sunday meetings, transporting people to camp, Christmas programs, summer youth programs, and different assignments.

Working Conditions

Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, and twist on an intermittent or sometime continuous basis. Must be able to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the building maintenance field and/or vocational certificate of training in building maintenance or related field.
  • Valid Class C Driver License.
  • Forklift and Scissor lift Certification a plus.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and Health Department Standards.
  • Light plumbing, Painting, Carpentry, Electrical, HVAC maintenance, and repairs.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Microsoft Office Experience.

  • Able to safely use manual and/or power tools.
  • Service-minded and able to function in a multi­facility environment.
  • Ability to place orders and calculate inventories.
  • Must have a strong sense of workplace ethics and an understanding of confidentiality protocols.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Able to take charge in the absence of the Building Manager
  • Respond to emergencies and arrive, if necessary, in a timely manner
  • Make independent decisions utilizing and problem-solving skills.
