About Us
The NC Department of Administration is the business manager for North Carolina state government. The department oversees Government Operations such as building construction, purchasing and contracting for goods and services, maintaining facilities, managing state vehicles, acquiring and disposing of real property, and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property. Additionally, the department manages many of the state's advocacy programs that provide assistance and services to diverse segments of the state's population that have been traditionally underserved.

This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of steam distribution, condensate return, and potable water including hot and cold water, drainage, and wastewater fixtures, piping, and components; and for the installation, maintenance and repair of building electrical systems.

25% Repairs or removes and installs new plumbing fixtures such as toilets, sinks, urinals, and water fountains.
15% Diagnoses malfunctioning hot water heaters involving automatic gas valves, thermo couples, electric eyes, igniters, and control circuits and makes repairs needed. Diagnoses malfunctioning burners and burner controls and makes needed repairs. Diagnoses and repairs oil and gas-fired boiler problems involving expansion tanks, traps, water level controls, and automatic electrical components and makes repairs as needed.
15% Diagnoses malfunctioning steam heating systems problems including pressure reducing valves, steam condensate traps, strainers, temperature control valves, steam condensate traps, strainers, and temperature control valves, main steam lines, radiators, heating coils, and converters.
25% Diagnoses and repairs pumping systems including sump, hot water, cold water, boosters and makes repairs as needed.
5% Installs, maintains, and repairs irrigation systems. Maintains and repairs pool and fountain water systems.
5% Installs and repairs new electrical circuits including to power lights, fixtures, and equipment including the installation of all fixtures. Installs and repairs wiring for air conditioning and heating equipment.
5% Assist other trades in maintenance and repairs to HVAC and electrical equipment.
5% Complete service orders, work orders, material issue form. All procurement card statement with appropriate paperwork.
Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualification May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
