How you’ll contribute

A Maintenance Worker who excels in this role:

• Performs general maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of hospital buildings, equipment, and building systems to support safe and uninterrupted facility operations.
• Inspects, maintains, troubleshoots, and assists with repairs involving HVAC systems, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, motors, electrical systems, plumbing, and other mechanical equipment.
• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on facility equipment and building systems and responds to work orders and unexpected maintenance needs throughout the hospital.
• Troubleshoots basic electrical and plumbing issues and completes repairs within scope of knowledge and experience.
• Performs general facility repairs and maintenance, including minor construction, alterations, remodeling, carpentry, and other building-related work as needed.
• Responds to urgent facility issues such as HVAC or heating failures, water leaks, equipment concerns, and other problems that may affect hospital operations or patient care.
• Works collaboratively with Plant Operations team members and other hospital departments to prioritize maintenance needs and complete work efficiently.
• Assists with maintaining materials, supplies, equipment, and replacement parts needed for facility maintenance.
• Supports hospital fire, life-safety, regulatory, and preventive maintenance activities and follows applicable safety procedures and standards.
• Documents completed work and communicates the status of repairs, projects, and outstanding maintenance needs to Plant Operations leadership.
• Participates in an on-call rotation and responds onsite to after-hours maintenance needs within the required response timeframe.
• Demonstrates flexibility when urgent maintenance needs require work beyond the regularly scheduled shift.
• Performs work throughout the hospital and campus, including frequent stair and ladder climbing, kneeling, working near floor level, and working outdoors or on rooftops in varying weather conditions.
• Performs other duties and maintenance projects as assigned.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, required. Additional requirements include:

• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on maintenance, facilities, mechanical, electrical, or related technical experience preferred; demonstrated technical maintenance experience is required.
• Working knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing systems.
• Experience troubleshooting and/or working with motors and mechanical equipment.
• Ability to independently assess maintenance issues, troubleshoot problems, and complete appropriate repairs.
• Ability to perform a physically active role that routinely requires walking, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, bending, and working in varying indoor and outdoor conditions.
• Ability to work in rooftop and outdoor environments with exposure to heat, cold, and changing weather conditions.
• Ability to participate in the department's rotating on-call schedule and report onsite within 30 minutes when on call.
• Flexibility to remain beyond the scheduled shift when necessary to address urgent facility or equipment issues.
• Basic computer skills and ability to communicate effectively with team members, hospital staff, and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous maintenance or facilities experience in a hospital or healthcare environment.
• Industrial, commercial, or residential maintenance experience involving electrical, mechanical, or building systems.
• Formal electrical or related technical/trade education or training.
• HVAC experience.
• Familiarity with boilers, chillers, cooling towers, or similar facility systems.
• Familiarity with Joint Commission, life-safety, or other healthcare regulatory requirements.

Schedule: This position primarily works 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., with team members rotating a 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. shift. Participation in the department's rotating on-call schedule is required, typically one week approximately every five weeks when fully staffed. Team members must be able to report to the hospital within 30 minutes while on call. Occasional schedule flexibility is required when urgent maintenance needs extend beyond the regular shift.
