Job Description

Pay: $20.34 per hour

Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm

Work with a purpose! Management & Training Corporation (MTC) provides a safe and secure working environment for our staff at the Bluebonnet Detention Center in Anson, TX, while helping detainees gain valuable skills and treatment necessary for success upon release.

What you’ll do: You’ll be responsible for duties involving general maintenance and repairs on equipment and buildings, assisting with technical trades such as plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and customer directives.

Essential Functions:

  1. Perform maintenance and repair of structures, electrical systems, heating, plumbing, ventilating, air conditioning and drainage systems. Recommend contracted assistance when on-site repair is not possible.
  2. Repair or replace faulty or damaged light fixtures, outlets and fuses as directed.
  3. Perform minor construction and repair of structural woodwork.
  4. Install window shades or coverings, security locks, etc.
  5. Perform repair or replacement of plumbing fixtures, washers, seals, etc.
  6. Help prepare surfaces for finishing, i.e., painting, as directed.
  7. Coordinating the work of detainees assigned to facility maintenance as appropriate.
  8. Perform preventive maintenance checks of buildings and equipment.
  9. Perform routine schedules checks of air conditioning systems.
  10. Requires long periods of walking and standing.
  11. Climbing stairs and ladders as required for facility maintenance.
  12. Pushing and pulling of maintenance tool cart is required.
  13. Respond to emergency situations or equipment breakdowns.
  14. Providing cleaning, transportation, and moving of equipment as needed.
  15. Regular attendance is required.
  16. Promote the development of positive social skills among detainees through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
  17. Maintain accountability of detainees and property; adhere to safety practices.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent, technical training and general knowledge of repair and maintenance, and three (3) years of maintenance or related experience required. Must have successfully complete required preservice training. Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements:

Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and maintain appropriate facility clearance.
