The Position

The Maintenance Worker supports the operation of supportive housing and office facilities by coordinating maintenance schedules, assisting staff with maintenance needs, and collaborating with contractors and service providers. The role contributes to safe, functional, and welcoming spaces by ensuring repairs, inspections, and upkeep are completed in line with organizational standards and BC Housing requirements.

Qualifications

  • High School completion required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in non-profit housing or a related social service field.
  • Experience in trades and/or building maintenance.
  • Knowledge of building codes and compliance requirements.
  • Skills in carpentry, plumbing, mechanics, electrical, janitorial, and tool use.
  • Experience supporting individuals impacted by homelessness, substance use, and mental health challenges.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, harm reduction, and Housing First.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite and MS 365.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check.

Working Condition and Physical Requirements

  • Monday–Friday, with flexibility for evenings and weekends.
  • Performs duties in environments where individuals face multiple barriers.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs safely and use industrial cleaning products.
  • Works both independently and collaboratively as part of an integrated housing team.
