The Maintenance Worker supports the safe, clean, and functional operation of the Jewish Alliance’s facilities. This role combines hands-on general maintenance with event and housekeeping support, serving a busy community campus. The ideal candidate brings demonstrated experience in light carpentry, plumbing, and general property maintenance, and takes pride in creating a welcoming environment for staff, members, and guests. The successful candidate is a collaborative team player who communicates respectfully and responds with flexibility to the evolving needs of a mission-driven organization.
​​​​​​​Primary Responsibilities:
- Complete work orders as assigned by the Facility manager.
- Perform light carpentry repairs and projects, including door hardware, trim, shelving, minor framing, and furniture assembly or repair.
- Perform routine plumbing maintenance and repairs, including unclogging drains, replacing fixtures, repairing leaks, and coordinating with licensed contractors when required.
- Set up and break down furniture, tables, and chairs for meetings, programs, and community events; assist with room resets in a timely and organized manner.
- Perform trash removal and recycling throughout the facility and exterior grounds; ensure dumpster areas are maintained and collection schedules are followed.
- Assist housekeeping staff as needed, including sweeping, mopping, restroom restocking, and responding to cleaning-related needs between housekeeping shifts.
- Perform additional general property maintenance duties including painting, interior/exterior upkeep, snow removal, minor electrical work, HVAC system monitoring, and appliance evaluation.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records regarding preventative maintenance, service requests, work-in-progress, etc.
- Enter and complete work orders by logging actions and findings in an accurate and timely fashion in our Building Engines Work Order Portal.
- Safely use a wide variety of power and hand tools.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, returning tools, equipment and supplies to the appropriate storage areas after each assignment.
- Available to work weekends and nights, on call for emergencies after hours on a rotation basis with facilities manager.
- When required, be available to respond to weather and environmental related emergencies, such as snowstorms, hurricanes, tornados, floods, and fires.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds with assistance.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders or stairs for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions, including exposure to temperature extremes, dust, noise, and cleaning chemicals.
- Must be able to use both hands for repetitive tasks involving grasping, gripping, and fine motor operations with tools and equipment.

Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, construction, or a related trade field.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.
- Criminal background and DCYF check required.
- GED or Highschool diploma
