Job Description

Position: Maintenance Worker

Department: Corps

Availability of Position: ASAP

Schedule: M-F 7:30am-12:30pm, Weekends during emergencies

Reporting Relationship: Corps Officers

Salary Grade: 74

Responsibilities

of Position:

  • Ensure that all snow, trash, and debris are removed from sidewalks, doorways, and parking lot as needed.
  • Keep all trash and recycling containers emptied and clean (inside and out) throughout the facility
  • Ensure that the kitchen equipment is in safe, proper working order and health department sanitation and safety standards are maintained
  • Work with the Corps Officer to maintain a current inventory of all Corps, and Kirby furnishings and equipment.
  • Notify the Corps Officer and Kirby House director (if applicable) of all maintenance, safety, liability, and property concerns.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Possess a valid PA driver’s license
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in cleaning and general maintenance
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Capable of supervising maintenance volunteers
  • Demonstrate satisfactory written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, both internal and external to The Salvation Army
  • Must be adaptable and flexible to a changing work environment and job requirements.
  • Must demonstrate an awareness of deadlines and a sense of urgency when accomplishing tasks of time-sensitive nature
  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the mission of The Salvation Army.
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
  • Meet the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153, including the PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Must possess an understanding of and support the mission of The Salvation Army.
