Maintenance Utility - The Brock Hotel

Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Utility team member supports the overall upkeep and cleanliness of the property by assisting with preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and maintaining mechanical and public spaces. This role is essential in ensuring a safe, clean, and well-functioning environment for both guests and team members.
Key Responsibilities
• Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions promptly
• Maintain a basic understanding of building systems and Life Safety codes and regulations
• Perform minor guestroom repairs including caulking, basic plumbing, and tile repair
• Assist with preventative maintenance tasks as assigned to support equipment performance and longevity
• Conduct routine mechanical rounds and accurately document findings
• Clean and maintain public areas, back-of-house spaces, workshops, boiler rooms, and mechanical rooms
• Assist in maintaining parts inventory and ensuring proper storage and organization
• Perform pool water quality testing and maintain accurate logs in compliance with regulations
• Safely shut down and isolate equipment following proper procedures and safety standards
• Support Maintenance Mechanics with general tasks and ongoing projects
• Maintain confidentiality of property information and protect company assets
• Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner to support smooth hotel operations
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, or hospitality environment is considered an asset
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building maintenance
• Familiarity with WHMIS and occupational health & safety standards
• Understanding of Lockout/Tagout procedures is considered an asset
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
• Positive attitude with a strong focus on supporting guest satisfaction
• Physically capable of performing job duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs
Working Conditions
• Must be available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to work in various environments, including hot and humid conditions
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking
• Frequent lifting, bending, twisting, and pulling (up to 50 lbs)
