Maintenance Technician

Sludge Press Operations Experience Preferred

Florida Class C Water License Preferred

Are you a hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys troubleshooting equipment, solving mechanical problems, and keeping critical systems running efficiently? We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance, repair, and operation of equipment used in sludge dewatering and municipal water treatment operations.

This position is ideal for a mechanically inclined professional who has experience with pumps, motors, conveyors, presses, electrical systems, and industrial equipment. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining operational reliability while supporting daily sludge press operations and facility maintenance activities.

What You'll Do

Maintenance & Equipment Reliability

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, valves, hydraulic systems, and related equipment.
• Inspect facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs and potential operational issues.
• Complete work orders and maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and capital improvement projects.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.

Sludge Press Operations Support

• Operate and monitor sludge dewatering equipment, including sludge presses and associated process equipment.
• Monitor equipment performance and make operational adjustments as needed.
• Troubleshoot sludge press issues and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.
• Manage polymer systems and support dewatering processes according to operational procedures.
• Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and maintenance of sludge handling equipment.
• Collect and record operational data and process information.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Utilize proper PPE and maintain a safe work environment.
• Participate in safety meetings and training programs.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies and equipment failures as needed.
• Ensure work is performed in compliance with all applicable regulations and company standards.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
• Minimum 2 years of industrial, manufacturing, utility, or mechanical maintenance experience.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, technical documents, and work orders.
• Experience operating or maintaining sludge presses, centrifuges, belt presses, or dewatering equipment.
• Experience with pumps, motors, electrical controls, PLCs, instrumentation, or hydraulic systems.
• Utility, industrial plant, manufacturing, or public works experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Florida Class C Water License preferred.
• Welding, fabrication, or electrical maintenance experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work around operating equipment.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to work around mechanical equipment, chemicals, noise, and moving machinery.
• Availability for occasional overtime, weekend work, and emergency call-outs.
