Our South Carolina Water Utilities Team is seeking a Maintenance Technician to work within our field team. The Maintenance Technician I performs maintenance on the distribution and collection system, installs taps, and performs maintenance on plant equipment. Inspects and maintains pumps, motors, valves, and blowers in working order, troubleshooting problems as they arise. Maintains work truck and tools. Assists in all areas of operations, maintenance, and customer service as needed for all facility systems within the company.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for sewer line repairs, line installation, plant, and related equipment installation/maintenance
  • Maintains work truck/tools
  • Troubleshot site equipment, including but not limited to pumps, power units, process and treatment system electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment
  • Pulls motors/pumps for repair, including wiring and fabrication of parts as necessary
  • Replaces valves
  • Assists in the construction, installation, and replacement of water and wastewater pipelines, valves, hydrants, and related infrastructure.
  • Operate and maintain construction equipment (e.g., excavators, compactors, pipe cutters) in support of capital improvement projects.
  • Perform site preparation, trenching, shoring, and backfilling while adhering to safety and permitting requirements.
  • Read and interpret construction plans, maps, and specifications to ensure accurate installation and project compliance.
  • Support project documentation, material handling, and coordination with engineers, inspectors, and contractors to maintain project timelines.
