The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician - HVAC to join our Utilities Team in Voisey’s Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation.
 
The role is a permanent on-site position , working a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotational schedule.
 
As a Maintenance Technician – HVAC you responsible for repairing, troubleshooting, adjusting, overhauling, servicing, and maintaining fixed plant equipment
 
Additionally, in this position you will:
  • Perform checks according to preventive maintenance plans on equipment including air handling units, refrigeration equipment, mine ventilation fans and heaters, mini splits, appliances and other equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
  • Complete breakdown, corrective, and minor reports.
  • Inspect, examine and test parts to recommend the extent and nature of the work to be completed.
  • Test and adjust repaired systems for proper performance and ensure that work meets manufacturer’s specifications and the functional needs of the operation.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace defective parts and components of the equipment systems.
  • Conduct final inspections to ensure that work detailed on work order has been completed to meet safety standards.
  • Provide feedback improvement suggestions to the supervisor and planner and implement those that are within your ability.
  • Improve equipment availability and efficiency through quality maintenance and failure analysis.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with other duties as required.

About You
Education:
  • College diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic is required.
  • An Interprovincial Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Red Seal Certification is required.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years Journeyperson experience.
  • Oil burner mechanic or oil heat system experience would be considered an asset but not required.
  • Previous mining or heavy industrial experience would be an asset.
 
Skills:
  • Knowledge of the repair and maintenance of fixed plant equipment.
  • Innovation and ability to use initiative.
  • Flexibility regarding work activities and type of work requirements.
  • The ability to work in a multi-discipline, multi-tasking, team environment.
