Job Description

St. Anthony Shrine, located in Emmitsburg, MD seeks qualified candidates for a part-time Maintenance Technician Under general direction of the Facilities Manager, the part-time Maintenance Technician will oversee the maintenance of the building. This includes the primary fields of electrical. heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC), carpentry, plumbing, etc. The weekly hours are 19.

Essential Functions

  • Performs a variety of repairs and maintenance, including painting, carpentry, minor plumbing and electrical work, furniture removal, Equipment upkeep/repair. Minor repairs/upkeep on church truck.
  • Check boiler once a week under church
  • Performs all duties warranted under the Preventive Maintenance Program of the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
  • Performs general custodial work including trash removal from grounds and buildings, cleaning up spills, buffing floors, unloading supplies, etc.
  • Check and change lights bulbs in all facilities as needed.
  • Snow removal (from sidewalks, both lots and cemetery) trash, etc. (trash from rectory kept in garage, trash from office once week.

  • Set up and take down chairs and tables for events

  • Ensure that all buildings are secured in the morning and before leaving to prevent security breaches.
  • Coordinates work of outside contractors and provides oversight to ensure proper completion of work.
  • Maintains inventory of maintenance and bathroom supplies, and restocks supplies as needed.
  • Cemetery duties- dig cremains and fill, lay off lot- lay off grave for full burial
  • Votives in church, carry full boxes in, empty out
  • Help with Christmas stable, manger set up, Easter flower carry in, cover statues etc.

Position Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with no more than 3 current points.
  • Some experience within the identified primary field.
  • Possession of journey-level certification.
  • Must be able to move furniture, equipment and other materials weighing up to and more than 100lbs. with assistance; to move about within very tight spaces where large and potentially dangerous equipment is stored; to operate various types of manual and power tools and automated systems; and to ascend/descend a ladder as needed.
  • Practicing Catholic preferred.

NOTE: This position will require on-call availability in order to respond to emergency needs when they arise.

Pay Rate: $21.00, Hourly
