Job Description

St. Ignatius Hickory Parish seeks candidates for a Maintenance Technician Under general direction of the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Technician will provide cleaning and maintenance for the parish buildings and grounds. This is a part-time, benefit eligible position working 20 weekly hours.

Essential Functions

  • Assures the church and parish center are maintained in a clean and orderly manner. Accomplish this by dusting, mopping, waxing, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms.
  • Assure the grounds are maintained in an orderly and safe manner. Accomplish this by mowing, string trimming, weeding, pruning, and using a leaf blower on walkways, etc. May have to dig burial spot for cremation graves.
  • Provide general assistance as needed by setting up chairs and tables, hauling and moving items as requested from work orders, etc. Change marque and other signs according to scheduled events.
  • Assure the collection and disposal of trash and garbage from the buildings and rectories.
  • In case of snow, Maintenance staff as essential personnel, expected in for duty to clear sidewalks and assist in snow removal, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with no more than 3 current points.
  • Some experience within the identified primary field.
  • Practicing Catholic preferred.
  • Must be able to move furniture, equipment and other materials weighing up to and more than 100lbs. with assistance; to move about within very tight spaces where large and potentially dangerous equipment is stored; to operate various types of manual and power tools and automated systems; and to ascend/descend a ladder as needed.

Range: $18.00 - $20.00, Hourly
